The next few weeks flew by like the wind. Sirius supposedly went off the perimeter of the wizarding world, he never bothered to correct the rumors to avoid the spotlight. Dumbledore had sent him a dozen owls by now, but he ignored them. There was no way Sirius would be acquainted with the man who ruined his godson's life, and he was sure as hell still angry at him. Sirius spent his days bonding with his godson, and there was nothing else he'd rather spend his time on. Saying Sirius was baffled by Harry would be an understatement. He'd never seen a child (well sort of) so mature, nor such a bookworm. He was worse than Remus and Lily combined! Sirius felt a pang in his heart at that thought, he remembered when the two of them would discuss books for hours on end. A memory that'd never occur again. He still felt guilty. He still blamed himself for the Potters' deaths even with Harry reassuring him constantly that it wasn't his fault, that he couldn't have known. Yet, he was the one who asked for the switch; a decision he will regret for the rest of his life. Sirius's thoughts lingered on Remus for a moment. He realized Remus hadn't contacted him, even with his case being on headlines for weeks. He felt guilty that he assumed Remus was the traitor, but he couldn't bring himself to owl him an apology. Perhaps that is how he feels as well? His thoughts then drifted to another matter. Harry, in all the time he was with him never mentioned Remus. That brought on some questions. What was their relationship? He decided to ask him. Sirius casted tempus with his new wand; it wasn't the same as his old one but what could he do? They snapped his old one. He realized it was dinner time. Sirius made his way up the creaky steps, still unadjusted to being back in this miserable dull home, to find Harry. It wasn't hard, considering if Harry weren't in his room or the kitchen, he'd be in the library or potions lab. Sirius smiled at the sight before him. Harry was leaning against the fireplace wall with one hand floating a pile of books, his other practicing whatever he was reading. His eyes had a spark of ambition and his face held a slightly crazed look. That was something Sirius was proud of Harry for. He truly loved learning and growing. Suddenly, the air around him started swirling of glowing of pure magic, Harry's hair was flying from the magical breeze, and he watched in astonishment as three objects appeared in the magical whirlwind. The objects floated to the floor as the winds settled down, and in front of him was a cloak, stone, and wand. Sirius's breath hitched. The cloak was unmistakable, he had hidden under it many times after all. That was Jame's prized possession. In his thoughts, he didn't notice, the particular way it landed. The cloak neatly folded into a triangle, the wand penetrating the middle, and the stone in the center. The Deathly Hallows. Sirius gazed up at Harry when he finished reminiscing. His face practically glowed in pride and joy. Harry gazed up and noticed Sirius staring at him.
"Siri! That was my first summoning with death magic! I can't believe it worked!" Harry exclaimed ecstatically.
"Ha! Good going pup, that's my amazing and talented godson for you!" Sirius grinned back. Harry tackled him into a hug which he happily returned, before letting go. "Anyways, it is dinner time pup. Let's grab a bite to eat yeah?" Sirius questioned. Harry nodded and happily skipped to dinner, a rare sight considering Harry rarely broke pureblood etiquette. Sirius followed, feeling pride for his godson. Harry had gone through so much, and yet here he was happy and powerful. He was excited to see what his skills would bring. They both sat down for dinner, happily enjoying some steak and spaghetti before Sirius decided to ask.
"Hey Harry?"
"Hm?" Harry hummed with a mouth full
"Well, forgive me for asking, but is there a reason you haven't contacted Moony?" Harry froze mid-bite and put his fork down with a confusing expression on his face. Sirius took this as a bad sign. "It's not that I want to force you to or anything, it's just if you knew me, I thought you knew him so I assumed- "
