Harry's mind had been focusing solely on Voldemort, literally. He had been tripping on his own feet from all the 'what ifs' of the rituals going through his head. His mind was forced to rearrange rather quick when he received an invitation to the Malfoy Ball. Glancing at the invitation, he knew this was a big deal, if based off the solid gold intricately engraved card. Harry had no doubt that Draco begged his father mercilessly to give such a prestigious invitation to a filthy halfblood, even if that halfblood was none other than The Boy Who Lived. That, in a way, made it worst, as most upper classes were Death Eaters who despised him for defeating their master. Despite this, Harry knew this was a perfect opportunity to meet allies and perhaps befriend Death Eaters before Voldemort's return. He of course, accepted and that was that, the day before yule he'll be frolicking with pureblood folk. Harry knew this was an opening to the political world within the ministry, so he put on the finest robes he owned. A rich dark blue velvet robe with a silk black tucked dress shirt, each button being a silver coiled snake. He had black matt leather trousers and dragon hide ankle boots. He wore a leather belt with two silver chains hanging off each side. His hair was styled so his bangs swayed to the side, and he had his snake ear cuff in. Thinking his appearance was acceptable, he bid goodbyes to his parents, who were iffy about him going, and apparated to Malfoy Manor.
He apparated directly at the entrance to the shock of the Malfoys. He looked on with appreciation; the manor screamed money. With its tall frame, elegant gate, and beautiful architectural design, he certainly understood the appeal. Lucius on the other hand was pale. How had this boy his son's age apparated?! Narcissa however was delighted. Her Dragon made such a powerful friend, filling her with pride. Glancing at Lucius who was still speechless (quite a rare sight that she enjoyed), she took the lead.
"Lord Potter-Black-Peverell, it is a pleasure to welcome you into our home," Narcissa politely greeted with a courtesy. Harry took her hand and placed a kiss.
"A pleasure to be here, Lady Malfoy. If I may be so bold, you two may call me Harry, my last name is after all quite long." Harry responded. Narcissa inclined her head. Soon enough Lucius woke up from his shock.
"Yes, Harry. I'm sure to expect- "Lucius was interrupted to his great annoyance.
"HARRY! You'reherehowareyouIhaven'tseenyouinforeverImissedyouI'msogladyouarehere!" Draco speeded out while tackling Harry quite inelegantly into a hug. Harry chuckled and hugged back. Harry looked at Draco's appearance with satisfaction. Gone was the snobby brat who always wore too much hair gel, instead stood a strong young man ready for whatever life through at him. He was wearing glistening pale blue robes with his hair slightly gelled rather than the stiff mess it once was. Harry would never regret befriending Draco, he wish he had the first time.
"Slow down Dray, I could barely hear you! I'm good and I miss you too," Harry laughed out, unwinding his arms. Draco smiled brightly; he missed his friend so much! He was surprised he could convince his dad to invite him so easily, but he wasn't complaining. That smile faded as he noticed his parents giving him a disapproving look, and he looked down sheepishly.
"Uh, sorry mum, dad. I was excited to see Har again," Draco apologized, rubbing his neck nervously.
"We could see that," Lucius drawled with a raised eyebrow. Lucius knew they were close, but not that close. He had never seen Draco so open to anyone, not even to the Zabini or Parkinson heirs. If the dark lord were truly returning, Draco would be in trouble with this type of friendship with the Golden boy. Still, perhaps that wouldn't be the case, seeing as Harry seemed to know about the Dark Lord's whereabouts. He decided early on since meeting him that he was not an enemy you want, sensing the strong aura around the young man. The way he presented himself showed confidence, a posture screaming superiority. He was also the Boy who lived, portrayed as a hero, lord of three families, and a magical prodigy based off his apparating stunt. So, he'd try to gain favor, agreeing with Draco rather quickly when he requested Harry to be invited to the Ball. But even he had his limits and inviting a Blood traitor and lowly Werewolf to the Malfoy ball would be a disgrace. He'd rather not sink down to those lowlifes. "I hope you enjoy the ball, Harry," He settled on, and with that, he headed back inside, Harry following with a chattering Draco. Lucius slightly shook his head, how had his proud and slightly pompous son become best friends with Harry Potter of all people.
