Harry was currently with Draco in the dungeons when Professor Snape entered. Harry had to bite back a nostalgic smile when he came in with his black robes billowing behind him. While Harry was by no means friends with the man, his death impacted him greatly. He had protected him for the years he's been here even if their interactions were anything but pleasant.

"You all have been sorted into Slytherin for a reason," Snape started, "you are resourceful, cunning, and ambitious. Cunning as you are, I want no trouble to follow our house." Snape stared at Harry on that one, who simply stared blankly back. Snape looked away and continued, "Do not disappoint the Slytherin house with your idiocy, I expect you all to thrive, no exceptions. If you are to break rules, do it discretely. Now, ON TO BED!" he snarled the last part. The scared first years scrambled out except for Harry and Draco who stayed beside Harry. Draco was curious why he stayed behind.

"What do you want, Potter?" Snape sneered. Wow, he really hated his existence; they hadn't even talked yet.

Harry blatantly ignored his tone. "I need head of house permission for unlisted pets. I have a familiar." Snape raised an eyebrow at that. He had expected some royal command for having his own room for his fame. Though still, it could be some ridiculous request of like a thunderbird knowing Great Harry Potter.

"And what familiar would that be?" Snape drawled, though he was clearly hiding curiosity. True familiars were rare in the wizarding world. Harry efficiently rolled his sleeve up to show his obsidian black snake curled around him.

"This is Tenebris, he is poisonous, but I can control him," Harry told him. At the unimpressed and wary stare Harry rolled his eyes. $$Tenebris, he doesn't believe me. Can you give him a nod or something? $$ Harry requested. Tenebris slithered in front of the potions master and nodded (more like bobbed his head). Harry physically restrained himself from bursting out laughing as Snape lost all color and his eyes nearly popped out, clearly recognizing the language of snakes. "As you can see, I can control him. Does that suffice?" Harry questioned, acting nonchalant. Snape gave a pained nod, so Harry slipped into his room with Draco trailing behind. Apparently, the dorms were by two; not surprising considering the majority here are purebloods. Luckily, he shares with Draco. He assumed it was Death's doing. The room in front of him was luxurious with wide walls with high ceilings. The floor had a rich green carpet and the beds had silky silver sheets in the black frame. There were intricate nightstands which had snake engravings in them, and brilliant chandelier with shimmering crystals. The whole room was spotless, unlike the Gryffindor's worn rustic room. Honestly, why hadn't he agreed to be in Slytherin? They even get their own bathrooms!

"That face it was hilarious!" Draco gushed out when they settled down. Harry just smiled and bid him goodnight. He decided to leave everything in his trunk rather than unpacking. Though he set up Hedwig and Tenebris's cages first. Afterwards, he changed into his sleepwear and headed to bed. But not before warding his possessions and sending a letter to his parents.

Dear Moony and Padfoot,

I ended up in Slytherin, no surprises there. Everyone was shocked! You should've seen Dumbledore's face, he looked like he got hit with a crucio! I doubt I'll have issues in the Slytherin house, after all I hold more power than their parents. Voldemort is here with Quirrell like last time. I have a plan, so don't worry. Snape was his normal snarky self. He freaked out when he heard me speak parseltongue. I think this year will be interesting. I'll miss you guys.

Love, Harry

He handed it to Hedwig before heading to his new bed. He definitely expected a howler in the morning.

Harry woke up early that morning. He casted a tempus wandlessly to see it was 5 a.m. He took a shower, got dressed, and then headed outside the castle for his run. Before he left, he was stopped by a furious Snape.
