"Are you feeling better?" Xinghua smiled faintly at her cousin. She had gone to his house after school to take care of him. According to his mom, he was ill. So she went to him with her notes and schoolwork for him to copy, as well as some goods she bought in the store.

Renjun nodded slightly, a slight frown upon his face. "You didn't need to come, you know." Despite them both being native Chinese speakers, Renjun talked to his cousin in Korean to practice his pronunciation.

"Yes, I did," she returned. "You look like you got ran over by a truck. Did you eat anything bad?"

"No." Renjun shook his head, closing his eyes momentarily. "I'm not sick. I know mom told you I was, but I'm not. I just feel exhausted." His voice showed it. It sounded low and he barely even moved his mouth to speak. "My entire body hurts."

Xinghua tilted her head at him. "How so?" she inquired with a curious tone in her voice.

"Don't know," Renjun lied, trying hard to sound genuine.

"Don't lie to me, you asshole. You can trust me anything," Xinghua insisted. "I won't tell nobody."

"Not a single soul?"

"Not a single soul," she reassured, nodding. "I won't judge either."

Renjun hesitated, sighing before he finally spoke, his voice was lower, nearly a whisper. Xinghua could tell he was embarrassed as he spoke. "I..." he started, looking around the floor, trying to find words in Korean. But he couldn't, so he said it in Chinese. "I have a soulmate."

"Really?" Xinghua widened her eyes. "But you never believed in that. Didn't you-" she suddenly stopped, remembering what Jihyun had said earlier that day, "hate the idea of having a soulmate?" she finished.

He nodded once more, looking between angry and sad. "I was furious about it, but it went overboard this time. I'd like to apologize to them, whoever they are. I must have caused them a lot of pain because of my uncontrolled anger," he said in a genuinely apologetic voice. Then he brought his eyes back up to Xinghua. "Please don't tell anybody. I can live with having a soulmate and ignoring such thing, but I don't think I can live with people teasing me about it."

"You have my word," Xinghua grinned.
