"So...you're what we call a Grisha?" Asked Jesper with squinted eyes.
"Inferni more specifically."
"What...how...why didn't you tell us?" He exclaimed as he leaned forward to make sure I was well receiving his expression of betrayal.
"You should ask Brekker that question," I answered as I filled my mouth with the savoury liquid in my glass.
Kaz glared at me from across the table."You can get us in the little palace then?"
Arken questioned as he drank his beer."Not exactly." Jesper and Arken both raised their eyebrows in confusion while Inej munched on her biscuits silently.
"I've never been in the little palace or the grand palace for a matter of fact." I explained as they all looked at me in confusion, including Kaz."What?" Inej questioned as she let her hand fall on the counter.
"I was not allowed," I whispered in embarrassment as I looked down at my hands wrapped around my glass of beer.
"But you are now?" Arken asked.
My lips closed in a straight line as I looked up at them and shook my head."But that doesn't make sense, you're Grisha, why would they banish you from their grounds?"
Jesper questioned as he swung his arms around, hitting Arken on the shoulder in the process, causing him to spill a small amount of beer on his suit."It's a story I prefer not to mention." I declared as I straightened my back and pulled my eyes off Arken who was frustratedly trying to clean himself up.
"Can you get us in or not?" Kaz questioned more aggressively than intended.
"No, I can't!" I declared as he let his head fall in between his shoulder in discouragement.
"However...I do know where the king keeps the royal archives and blueprints of the little palace!" I exclaimed as Kaz raised his head in interest.
"But...they're kept under lock and key!
Far from the prying eyes of the masses."
I added causing a smile to crack onto Jesper's face."Yes!" He exclaimed as he hit his wrist on the table.
"What does that mean?" Arken asked in confusion.
"Time for a heist!" Jesper explained as he hit Arken's shoulder with his fist.
"Ah," Arken answered as he closed his mouth in a straight line.
"Where are the blueprints?" Kaz questioned impatiently.
"In the Royal edifice," I answered confidently as I raised my glass to my lips.
"It's just around the corner from here."~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
10 minutes later
"I leave you a bullet to remember me."
Said Jesper as he pat the goat gently on the head as if he was afraid Milo would disappear under his touch.
"Let's promise never to forget each other Milo."
He mumbled as the barmaid looked at him weirdly. I rubbed my forehead with my fingers as I rolled my eyes.
"But I must go now." He exclaimed as he placed both hands on either side of the goat's face causing me to look around for anyone watching us.
"I leave you in the care of this lovely barmaid. Who needs your support here."
Poor goat, I thought."All right big softy, let's go!" I exclaimed while pulling him away from the goat with my hand.
"We'll see you soon Arken." I shouted over the chattering. Arken raised his class in approval as he watched Jesper and I exit the bar.
