On the way to the headmaster's office, Regulus and Diana were silent. She didn't mean to get Remus in trouble. She just wanted to figure out what happened on the train. She had her suspicions, but didn't want to say anything out loud until she had all the facts.

When Regulus and Diana arrived at the stone gargoyle that Regulus said guarded the entrance to the headmaster's office, they waited since the note hadn't given her a password. After a while, the four older Gryffindors approached, led by James and Peter, who looked anxious. Remus and Sirius followed them. Sirius looked defiant as ever, but by the way he was walking, she could tell he was also nervous. Remus looked pale and wasn't looking up from the floor as the foursome walked towards Regulus and Diana.

Before Diana could say anything, Dumbledore appeared. "Sorry to keep you all waiting, but I had a few calls to make," he told them, a twinkle in his eyes. From her time in the Wizengamot, she knew that when the headmaster had a twinkle in his eye, it meant things were going the way he wanted them to, so she relaxed slightly. If Remus was about to be expelled, she didn't think that the headmaster would be happy.

"I'm sure Mr. Lupin will be able to escort Miss Prince to the Slytherin common room and make it back to Gryffindor Tower on his own after our meeting so you four may go," Dumbledore said to Regulus, Peter, James, and Sirius.

Sirius and Regulus looked ready to stay regardless until Remus looked up and squeezed Sirius's forearm, and Diana nodded to Regulus. Both Blacks still looked hesitant, but Sirius allowed himself to be dragged away by James, and Peter and Regulus followed, Regulus looking over his shoulder at Diana until he turned the corner out of sight.

Dumbledore then said the password, Caramel Cobwebs, to the gargoyle, which caused it to step aside and reveal a spiral staircase. Dumbledore ascended the moving stone staircase to his office, with Diana following and Remus behind her.

When they entered the office, Diana took a moment to look around. It was large and circular, full of little knick-knacks on various shelves. Several silver gadgets stood on spindle-legged tables, whirring and emitting little puffs of smoke in multiple colors. The room contained a vast number of portraits of past headmasters, all either chatting quietly with one another or asleep. Several of the paintings observed the two students with interest. There was also a claw-footed desk in the office. Dumbledore placed the Sorting Hat on a shelf. There was also a bird about an eagle's size with brilliant scarlet and gold plumage sitting on a perch behind the door. Diana also noticed that the two students were not alone in the office. Sitting in the office was Professor McGonagall, her Uncle Charles, Aunt Mary, and a man about her uncle's age who she didn't recognize.

"Dad, what are you doing here?" Remus asked the unknown man nervously.

'Well, that answers who he is,' Diana thought as she observed Remus and his father. She noticed their similarities. Not only did they look alike, but Mr. Lupin also seemed to share his son's nervous energy.

Diana moved to sit next to her uncle and aunt, who were looking between her and Remus.

After Remus sat next to his father, Dumbledore began to speak. "Thank you, Mr. Lupin and Lord and Lady Abbott, for arriving here on such short notice, but I believe there was an incident on the train between the young Mr. Lupin and Miss Prince that would be best explained while their guardians are present."
