Nightmare Before Christmas

20 November 1976

The morning of the first day of Diana's first Hogsmead Weekend, she decided to dress up. She told herself it wasn't because Regulus was going with her, but honestly, she couldn't help it. Regulus was beautiful, and he wanted to spend time with her. It was only natural that she was a little excited and wanted to look nice.

Diana changed into the outfit her roommates had helped him pick out the night before and went down with Amira to the common room where they met with Regulus and Severus.

Diana wasn't sure if Amira and Severus were going on a date or were just friends, and neither had given her a straight answer when she asked them what they were to each other.

The foursome went to the Entrance Hall to meet Lily, Pandora, the Marauders, Marleen, and Mary. They went to get themselves signed out to leave the castle and waved to Barbra, Frank, Alice, Dorcus, and Marley, who was planning on heading down to the village a little later.

The group of sixth and fifth years broke into smaller groups to take carriages down to the village. Pandora joined Amira, Diana, Regulus, and Severus in their carriage. In contrast, Peter joined Lily, Mary, and Marleen in the second carriage leaving Remus, Sirius, and James to take the last one.

When the three groups all got to the village, they divided once more. Peter, Marleen, and Mary all wandered off to Honeydukes. James, Sirius, Remus, and Lily headed towards Scrivenshafts Quill Shop. Pandora went off with Severus and Amira to the small apothecary leaving Regulus and Diana alone together. Regulus and Diana decided to save their shopping closer to Christmas and headed to the Three Broomsticks for some butterbeer.

When they got to the Three Broomsticks, the friendly owner Madam Rosmerta brought them their butterbeer, giving Dina a knowing smile and sending a wink to Regulus, who smirked slightly in response, causing Diana to blush.

The two Slytherins sat in the Three Broomsticks talking until Sirius, Remus, Lily, and James joined, informing them that they should head back to the castle soon as it was getting dark.

Instead of taking the carriages back to the castle Regulus and Diana opted to take the scenic route and walk around.

On the way back, they passed Barty and his friend group. When Barty saw Diana, he smiled at her, causing Diana to wave in response before Regulus huffed and scowled at Barty, causing the other boy to turn away, smirking at one of his friends.

Little did the Slytherin pair know that Lily, James, Remus, and Sirius hadn't left when they said they would head back to the castle when they left the Three Broomsticks, and they were instead following the two discreetly.

'Jesus and they think Sirius and Remus aren't subtle.' Lily thought to herself, watching as Regulus held Diana's arm in his own like he was leading her into some fancy ball instead of back to school.
