Remus started bringing Lily Evans with him when he came to the library beginning in October. Lily was beautiful with thick red hair that fell in waves past her shoulder and oval bright emerald eyes. Diana could see why everyone not blinded by blood purity liked Lily. She was levelheaded, witty, and willing to discuss charms and spell crafting endlessly with Diana. Lily shared that she wanted to pursue a mastery in charms after graduation to pursue a career in spell crafting.
At first, Lily was hesitant to interact with Regulus. However, after almost a month of the foursome studying together, she got comfortable enough with Regulus to have a conversation with him. They likely were never going to best friends, but they were amicable. Lily confessed that she was tentative of Regulus because she assumed he ascribed to pureblood supremacy beliefs like his cousins and mother.
Watching Lily and Remus interact was a treat because the two had been friends since their first year, and by now, were well in sync with each other. Remus and Lily were also the two most witty and sarcastic people Diana ever met. Sometimes towards the end of their study sessions, Remus and Lily would disagree about a part of their homework. It would devolve into them roasting each other, sometimes leaving Diana in tears and even getting Regulus to laugh once in a while.
Because both Remus and Lily were now studying with Regulus and Lily, sometimes James and Sirius 'just happened to come into the library when Remus and Lily were there. Even Sirius and James joined the sessions usually resulted in Regulus and Diana leaving the table and moving back to the Slytherin common room to finish their work because Remus would just stop working altogether and flirt with Sirius so blatantly that Diana was shocked them two Gryffindors didn't just end up snogging on the table.
When Diana had asked James about Remus and Sirius's relationship, he had filled her in on his and Peter's plans to get the two together. This is why Diana knew that James and Peter's story is found by poor Professor McGonagall mid-kiss in a supply closet going around Hogwarts gossip channels was utterly true. The two had somehow botched a plan to get Remus and Sirius together and instead managed to lock themselves in the closet with a spell that only broke once the rooms inhabits kissed. Apparently, McGonagall had been shocked at finding Peter and James in the closet and had apparently said, "You two were not the two I was expecting to find in this broom closet when I heard that two of the Marauders were seen entering a broom closet together."
It didn't seem like Remus was the only one distracted when James and Sirius joined them in the library. Diana could see how during those study sessions, Lily's work wouldn't get done as Lily preferred to spend the time sneaking glances at James when he wasn't looking at her.
James, for the most part, seemed to be following Barbra's advice from over the summer and, according to Regulus, had matured quite a bit since last year, and it seemed Lily had taken notice of this.
The full moon in October fell on a Friday, so Diana woke up early on Saturday to bring Remus some chocolate in the hospital wing. When she was entering the hospital wing, she ran directly into James, who looked like a deer in the headlights when he saw her. When she told him exactly that, sleep-deprived-looking Sirius and Peter, who were right behind James leaving the hospital wing, broke into hysterical laughter and then dragged a still spooked James back to their dorm.
Diana was curious about why the boys looked so sleep-deprived but put those thoughts aside in favor of talking to Remus before he passed out. After Remus fell, asleep Diana went about the rest of her day, opting to spend it with Severus in the Potions lab as her cousin worked on perfecting his version of the Pepper-up Potion. Severus used Diana's dad's old notes on the brew and experimented using different peppers, finding that birds' eye chili peppers made the potion more potent.
