The rest of September passed uneventfully, with Diana adjusting well to life at Hogwarts. She was friendly with her roommates, especially Amira, but she spent most of her time with Regulus or the Marauders. Severus was usually not around, choosing instead to spend most of his free time in the Potions lab, working on adjusting his projects to make them more potent.

Regulus, it turned out, was a scheduling fanatic. After about a week, he casually handed her a color-coded OWL study schedule with time set aside for tutoring in Potions, which Severus agreed to help her with after she disclosed it was the subject she struggled the most with. These study sessions in the library with Severus and Regulus were, aside from meals, the only times she saw her cousin outside of a potions lab.

As September progressed, when Severus wasn't with them in the library, Regulus and Diana were occasionally joined by Remus, with who Diana had been slowly developing a relationship with. She enjoyed discovering Remus was witty and was surprised to find out how vindictive the sixth year was for someone who was a supposedly noble Gryffindor.

On September 8th, when the full moon was due to rise, Diana offered to join Remus during his transformation because she had remembered reading during her research on lycanthropy over the summer when she was researching the disease for the Wizengamot bill that during transformations, the wolf wouldn't attack fellow animals, just humans and so as an animagus, especially one that could fly, she wouldn't be in any danger. Her offer and the discovery had floored Remus that she was an animagus but had regardless turned down her request and then quickly left the library. When he fled, Regulus let out a snort of amusement but waved Diana off when she asked him what was so funny.

Remus's friend Peter had joined them in the library with Remus once in a while when Remus first started coming to study with them but had mentioned football in an offhand comment one day, which led to a passionate debate between Diana and him about whether it was called 'football' or 'soccer, which led the group getting thrown out of the library and Regulus banning Peter from studying with them in the future. However, Diana invited him to play 'American' football with her one day, which he excitedly accepted.

Diana did end up showing Peter how to play 'American' football later that month. They got Sirius, Frank, Barbra, James, Franks friend (a seventh-year Ravenclaw named Benjy Fenwick), and Barbra's friends and dorm mates Dorcas Meadows and Dorcas's girlfriend Marleen 'Marley' McKinnon into playing. Remus and Regulus both sat off the side and laughed at them while they tackled one another. Peter was pretty incredible at the game, and the group played twice more during September with promises to continue playing until it got too cold outside.

Whenever James got his hands on Diana, he still bombarded her with Quidditch statistics and plays despite her plan to try out for the Slytherin team. According to James, an easy Quidditch Cup win would take away the fun of the competition.

Sirius was the most tactile of her new friends and seemed to need to be continually touching someone in some way which had been a shock to her at first during summer but was something she was already comfortable with by the time school started. Sirius's head or feet were almost always in Diana's lap when they were together. That is unless Remus was with them, and then Sirius, without fail, gravitated towards Remus. By the end of September, it was apparent to Diana that Remus and Sirius both liked the other.

Remus was possessive of Sirius, especially around the full moon, glaring at anyone who tried to flirt with Sirius while Remus was within earshot. The couple times when Diana had witnessed someone asking Sirius if he wanted to spend some time alone with them in front of Remus, Remus told them Sirius was busy with various things, including studying with him, Diana, and Regulus or helping Remus with his Care of Magical Creatures homework. To one very persistent Hufflepuff boy, Remus flat-out told the Hufflepuff "no" and dragged Sirius from the library.
