1 November 1981

Remus had gone to bed earlier the night before, so when he woke up and Sirius wasn't back from his mission, Remus knew something was wrong.

Remus went through his morning routine and tried to calm himself. Sometimes missions took longer than expected. It was okay that Sirius wasn't back yet. It was only about noon. He'd be back any minute.

When the clock on the wall indicated it was there in the afternoon, Remus began to panic. His panic didn't subside when the Floo came to life and out tumbled Frank, Alice, and little Neville Longbottom.

"Uh, hi guys, what are you doing here? You're supposed to be at home; I hope you being here doesn't break the charm on your house." Remus said, getting up from the kitchen table and moving over to pinch Neville's cheeks. When he looked at Alice and Frank, he knew something was wrong.

"We broke the charm earlier today when we heard the news," Frank said solemnly.

"What news," Remus asked, panic mounting. What could make two trained Aurors whose only child had a bounty on its head remove their best defense against a homicidal cult leader?

Horror crossed Alice and Franks's faces, but before they could even start to try and explain what had happened the night before the Flood came to life again, and storming out came Diana closely followed by an equally furious Regulus carrying two-month-old Caelum.

"They think Sirius did it. They dragged him into the Ministry and snapped his wand. They're dragging him off to Azkaban now. No trial; they wouldn't even let me see him. I have to go back and make a scene. How fucking dare they. This is a complete miscarriage of justice." Diana was ranting as she stormed over to envelope Remus in a giant hug. "Well, get him out, Remus. They have to listen to me eventually, and I contacted Arcturus so he'll be back in Britain by the end of the day. And how fucking dare they tell me they don't know where Harry is? If he's not with Alice or you, they should be more than fucking concerned, not just like 'Dumbledore told us not to worry about it.' No one is curious as to why the most famous child in the world is? Missing and not in the care of his second primary guardian or his primary guardian's partner?"

"Get him out!? Are you out of your mind? He's a traitor!" Alice screeched, causing both Neville and Caelum to start crying.

After Alice passed her crying child to Frank, Diana got in the older women's face. "How fucking dare you assume that Sirius Black would betray the Potters. Is it because he's a Black? Have the majority of the Black family not proven themselves to you already, Alice? Is it because, unlike you and your oh so Light noble allies, Sirius has a Dark affinity, and therefore he must be bad even though he set up your blood wards when you and Frank couldn't make the wards strong enough?" Diana's hair was now swirling around her head in a vortex, eyes glowing with rage as she stared down the older woman.

Regulus handed Caelum to Remus, who was standing so still a light breeze could have come and knocked him over trying to process what the hell was going on, before going over to Diana and moving her away from Alice and placing her on the couch before taking Caelum back from Remus.

His nephew being removed from his arms knocked some sense into Remus, who finally processed everything that was just said. "What? Why is Sirius in Azkaban? Betray the Potters? What's happening?!"
