My eyes watched Pope diligently from the backseat as he looked at one of the boards by the ferry port, a piece of white paper in his hands. He jogged back to the car, grumbling under his breath.

"Pope, can you act normal?" Kie asked, her tone biting.

"So, um... okay, so, bad news," Pope huffed, causing the three of us in the back to sit up in the back, attention fully on him. "The ferry's closed, and there's this."

He handed the paper to the girl in the passenger seat and got in the driver's side, huffing again. She hissed under her breath and handed the paper back to us. John B, who had opted to lay on the flattened seat with his hoodie as a pillow, craned his neck to look. "What is that? What is this?"

"I hate this goddamn island," I mumbled, nestling myself down onto the floor of the car at the bottom of JJ's seat. The blonde was next to grab the wanted sign, holding it so we could both see. "Sick pic, John B, did you post that on instagram?"

"Yeah, uh, this is a good framer of you," JJ echoed, a sigh tumbling from my lips as I let my head fall sideways onto the front of his leg.

"Okay, so, the whole island is looking for John B right now," Pope stated the obvious.

"That's a lot of money."

"Congratulations, JB, you're famous," I huffed.

"Guys, we've got to get back to the HMS. We need small, no running lights—" Kie started frantically before the boy in question tutted and cut her off.

"It's at the château, Kie."

"And I wonder if the cops got the entire place staked out. Let me think—" JJ began, his words overflowing with sarcasm.

"Oh wait, what about my house? Oh yeah, that should be perfectly fine," I matched his tone, my nails scratching at my scalp. "Yeah, they've definitely got that whole area locked down."

"Yeah, copy that," She grumbled, sinking in her seat.

"Let me think, just give me a second— give me a second," Pope repeated, his eyes squeezed together as he tried to brainstorm places to go. Suddenly, he turned around, his eyes frantic. "JJ does your dad still have that boat? The cigarette boat, The Phantom. The one he used to race."
