That's JJ. He's been my best friend since the third grade— him, John B, and I have been three peas in a pod, always. It was kind of known that if there was one of us, the other two would soon follow. Anyway, JJ's about as local as they come. Latest in a long line of fishing, drinking, smuggling, reckless, vendetta-holding salt-lifers who make their living off the water. He's the best surfer I know— don't tell him I said that, though. He'll never let me hear the end of it and his ego will be through the roof (as if it isn't already sky-high) for weeks. He's a mild kleptomaniac, a future tax cheat, and the biggest flirt I know. But would I have him any other way? Nope.
