MOUNT JUSTICEOctober 16, 16:01 EDT
"No way," Claire whispered incredulously, not believing what she just saw. All of the Justice League's heavy hitters being taken out in one fell swoop.
The rest of the team stood silently as a holographic image of Zatara appeared before them.
"Tornado, did you..."
"Yes, Zatara, we saw. Celestial defenses have failed. Initiate all terrestrial measures." Red Tornado ordered, and Zatara nodded.
"Affirmative. See you in the field." He stated before his hologram disappeared.
RT turned to the team, "I must join the league. We will protect the planet at all costs. But should we fail, the responsibility falls to you."
Kaldur looked at them all before facing Tornado with a determined expression.
"We stand ready."
-
"Red Tornado to cave. I fear that I am all that remains of the League-"
"RT!" Robin shouted in warning, only for the Android to disappear entirely.
The room was silent, and Claire stared up at the images of the Justice League, all exed-out and still in shock. The entire League was officially gone. If they couldn't stop that invasion, what could she do? But she already knew the answer, like a nagging in the back of her mind.
Nothing.
"We are Earth's heroes now," Aqualad announced solemnly, breaking Stellar out of her thoughts and prompting her to release a scoff and shake her head, turning everyone's attention to her.
"No."
She crossed her arms and glared once again at the exed-out holographic photos of the league before looking back at Aqualad.
"No. We aren't Earth's heroes. They're all dead. We're just a group of kids with superpowers and some costumes. If Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, and Captain Atom..." She choked slightly on her mentor's name.
"...Couldn't stop this, how can we?"
There was a pause before Aqualad spoke, "You may be right, there is a possibility that we will fail, but we will do it as a team. We must keep fighting because if there is even a chance that we can beat this incursion, we owe the people of this planet to try."
She looked away because she knew he was right.
"You okay?" KF whispered, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder and remembering their conversation in the Bio-Ship after the Bialya mission. Remembering how she got when she was afraid or when she felt helpless, and right now, it looked like she was on the verge of another breakdown.
"I'm fine." She replied firmly and shrugged his hand off her shoulder.
"We require a strategy." Aqualad announced, "Earth's weapons are ineffective. And it has been made tragically clear a direct attack will not succeed."
Robin pulled up his holo-computer, "Checking satellite imagery."
A large holographic image of the planet appeared, with an abundance of red dots on every continent.
