I'm here-L
Lace messaged me as I finished my makeup. As I looked myself over in the mirror, I grabbed my purse and walked downstairs.
"I'm heading out." I shouted before running out the door.
~
"Nice outfit Lace."
"Why thank you Emmie, I like yours too." She winked at me as we walked up to the door. Thumping music played loudly as the door swung open by someone I didn't know. I smiled politely and walked in with Lace. It was definetly crazy in there. People were grinding on each other like nobody's business. The smell of alcohol hit me like a wall. I took a step back from the smell and shook my head, continuing forward. We finally made it to the kitchen, I think, and I felt someone come up on me.
"Get off me dirtbag." I said with disgust and turned around. "Conner, i'm so sorry. I thought you were a drunk jerk and I didn't feel like dealing with.."
"It's okay Emery." He chuckled.
"Hey Em, here's your drink." Lace said and handed me a red plastic cup. I wasn't sure what was in it, but hell. I started drinking it and it was definitely strong.
"I'm glad you came." I smiled at his words.
"I'm glad you invited me. We haven't spoken since the beginning of last year."
"I know. And i'm sorry, I just got caught up with the whole pledging and when I came back to find you, you were busy with studying."
"Yeah."
"Um, Emmie."
"Yes." I reached out and touched his hand, him immediately grabbing it and locking our hands together. It seemed to calm him down.
"Do you want to go bowling tomorrow?" He asked, finally looking into my eyes.
"Of course Conner." He smiled at me and he leaned in. I wasn't going to stop him, in fact, I was leaning in too! And someone fell back, knocking Conner's drink on himself. I couldn't help but laugh and soon he joined in.
"Come here." I lead him by the stove where I found a towel and started wiping his shirt.
"Em, it's no use." He chuckled. As we laughed together, the music stopped blaring. As I turned around, I saw Liam standing there in full rage.
~
"Em." I heard his voice whisper from the other side of the door.
"Go away!" I firmly shouted.
"Emery, come on."
"No!" I yelled again
"Just, open the door." I walked over, clutching my pillow and unlocked it, opening to find Liam with hurt in his eyes.
"Why? I was just having fun and I don't need a babysitter."
"Do you know what that boy.."
"Conner has been my friend for a long time. I like him Liam, okay? And you had to go and ruin it for me." He stepped in closer.
"Emery"
"What?"
"I'm not trying to be mean. Okay?" He outstretched his arms and I went in for a hug.
"You just need to be relaxed." I mumbled into his chest.
"Okay." I looked up and smiled at him. Slowly, his hands moved from my shoulders to cupping my face. I looked at him, confused, and then I realized once he closed his eyes and started leaning forward. I found myself closing my eyes too. Our lips finally found one another and I snapped back into reality once Liam bit my lip softly.
"What are you doing?" I asked as I backed away and looked at him as his eyes shot open.
"Well, um.. I was in the moment." He ran his fingers through his hair.
"Liam, your my babysitter." I took his hands off my face and placed them next to his sides.
"I know that."
"Then what were you doing?"
"Seeing where your personal bubble is." He came closer and smirked. "Found it." I pushed him away and walked back into my room.
"What did I just do?" I muttered to myself, shaking my head to make the memory of what just happened, disappear.
