A/N: This white blood cell stuff is purely fiction. Idk what's true lol
Hans led the group through the secret entrance out to the open world, and everyone piled into the Berg to grab weapons. Once they were all geared up, a military vehicle was pulling up with the words WCKD engraved on the side. It would be their undercover transportation car to get to WICKED and back here hopefully undetected.
Thomas hopped into the passenger seat while Minho and Charlotte got into the back, waving to their little group. "We'll be back before you know it." Thomas called to Brenda, who had watery eyes.
"We're trusting you idiots." Jorge chirped, "Come back in one piece for me."
Charlotte smiled to him, and he flashed his surprisingly white teeth back at her, then the car was driving off and into the wasteland. The road was bumpy with hills, and there were no real instructions as to where to drive exactly.
"How far is WICKED?" Thomas called to the man driving, nicknamed Red for his ginger hair and Hans' apprentice, who responded with, "About seven or eight hours. When you guys were in the Berg, Jorge was making sure to not fly in a straight line just in case people were following you. In reality, it wasn't a long flight at all."
"Shall we go over the plan?" Minho said, and everyone turned to him. "Yeah." "I guess."
"We park outside of WICKED, change into their outfits which are in the trunk, gain access to the probably locked up room, steal the equipment, and get out of there. Easy as pie." Minho explained in a monotone voice, and Charlotte turned to him, "What kind of expression is that?"
"Forget the expression. I don't like how slippery this plan is."
"What other choice do we have?" Thomas contradicted, "We barely even know the place or the secret amount of security they have. This is the best option -"
"And only." Charlotte interrupted, which got Thomas to turn around and give her a look, "And only option we have. Look, we'll be alright. We're gonna let Brenda know that we're here through the walkie talkie then if we don't say anything in two hours, they hop on the Berg and fly down here."
"But we can't be bothering them, they have enough on their plate. She and Jorge need to find the other gladers and gather them to see if we're all on the same page."
Charlotte rolled her eyes, and he glanced over at her, "Hey, I know they're dead to you or whatever, but they're still my family, and yours. You may not have grown with them for three years, but I have and I can't just leave them behind."
"Either way." Thomas added, "I'm sure everything is just a misunderstanding."
Charlotte pursed her lips and locked eyes with Minho for a moment before looking away and out the window, loosely crossing her arms. She took an inaudible deep breath, trying to cool down her nerves.
"What's wrong, Princess?" Minho asked with furrowed eyebrows, and she turned back to him, "It's nothing."
"It's not nothing." Thomas spoke, "What's up?"
"I just don't see how we're going to pull this off." She said, and Minho rolled his eyes, "Come on, have a little faith in us. We've gotten this far."
"Exactly." She agreed while fully turning to face him, "We've gotten this far, and I don't see how we can get any further. They nearly kicked our asses back at WICKED, and now we're going back, getting the equipment, and driving back to Denver. They'll inevitably know that it was us if they don't immediately figure us out and come looking, probably guess that we're in Denvers since they could track the Berg back to it, if Jorge easily could then so can they. And when we're back, Hans has to extract white blood cells which is a difficult and long process, and we have to find Newt." She took a deep breath, "It all seems so. . . impossible. How will we do all of that? We may have some luck, but not a load of it."
