The alarms were deafening as everyone worriedly looked around for one another. Charlotte was rapidly blinking, trying to accustom to the darkness quickly. Smoke went into her lungs and she coughed along with everyone else, panic setting into her bones.

"The guard's gone!" Minho called frantically, "I can't find her!"

Suddenly Charlotte was flying back into the floor, a person on top of her. She cried out as she fell roughly, the person straddling her. She opened one eye just to receive a blow to her left cheek, making her whimper, immediately feeling blood rising.

As soon as the guard was off her, the sound of power charging filled the gaps between the whines of the alarm, followed by the pop of a grenade exploding against the ground. The bolts of electricity lit up the room as Charlotte coughed, it being right near her. She opened her eyes and turned to see a shadow running away from the group.

"Found her." The ginger called loudly from the floor, and a pair of hands found her armpits and hoisted her to her feet. The person patted her on the shoulder, "Sorry, that was my fault."

"It's alright, Minho. She was bound to have some kind of trick up her sleeve." She reassured.

"Get back into positions!" Thomas yelled, "Feel the door and get back! I'll use the key card I stole!"

Everyone did as they were told, going to the door and feeling their way across to get back against the wall, now readying their weapons and aiming.

A beat later there was an audible click, and Minho immediately shouted, "Start shooting!"

Thomas, Brenda, Newt and Minho all began firing away as the other girl gripped her knife, waiting for movement. The grenades landed on the floor inside the room and exploded, all creating a light show to let them see. Charlotte stepped away from everyone and looked into the doorway, and between the lighting up grenades, she saw absolutely nothing. There were no people, no answering fire, nothing.

"Stop!" Thomas said, catching on, "Don't waste any more ammunition!"

Everyone halted at his orders, waiting for the dancing electricity to die down so they can get through. They all breathed heavily while staring, having the same confused expression. Where were the guards? The hostage definitely lied, there's no one even around them.

"We're a little short on memories." Thomas called to Brenda, "Do you know anything that'll help us? Where is everyone? Why the alarm?"

"I have to be honest - something definitely feels off." She answered back loudly to be heard over the blaring alarm.

"I bet this is another one of their bloody tests!" Newt yelled angrily, "All of this is meant to happen and we're being analyzed all over again."

The girl sighed silently. The dangerous Newt was coming back again, and it made her on edge as she stood up straighter. She knew that she shouldn't say anything, there wasn't something to add.

Thomas motioned his head forward as he began walking, everyone following suit, weapons held and ready. She made her way to the far back, looking around in the darkness.

The alarm stopped.

"What-" Thomas had started really loud, then quieted himself, "What now!"

"They probably got sick of their ears bleeding from the noise." Minho seethed, "Just because they turned it off doesn't mean anything."

The electricity officially stopped, the only source of light were the emergency lights from the doorways. She looked around and realized that they were in a large reception area with couches, chairs, and a couple of desks. Nobody was in sight.
