Tommy, I don't know how much time I have left, so I'll keep this short. Stop caring about a cure, go find peace for yourselves and nothing else. Hopefully I'll be there with ya, but in case I'm not, you need to make sure Char stays safe for me. Protect her with your life, you hear me? You're a bloody idiot, but I'm thankful you came into my life and tried to save me. Take care of yourself and your team, they look up to you, myself included. See you on the other side, slinthead.

Charlotte didn't notice the tears welling in her eyes until they were streaming down her face. She sniffled loudly and looked at the big window, needing her eyesight to be somewhere else. She didn't know when Newt had written it, but it seemed like when he did he thought he wasn't going to be able to be saved. She sniffed again. We'll save you, Newtie. We'll save you.

Thomas came back in when she had collected herself, and she handed him the note, which he silently read. He pursed his lips upon reading and looked down at her, "You know, I bet if I read this when he first gave it to me, I wouldn't have agreed with it. Back then I wanted to change the world, to save it. But now? Now I know that one person can't, and that those people aren't us. I think all of us just want to live in peace now."

"I know I certainly do." She responded while nodding, "And I get what you mean. And hey, we did do something. Hans took a little extra blood to keep for himself, he's going to try to give it to one of his friends who isn't immune once we leave. If it can go into one persons bloodstream and transform it, that person can donate blood and save someone else. And once they have the equipment, they can extract the white blood cells and give the cure to everyone." She turned to him with a satisfied smile, "We've done what we could, Tom. Now it's time for us to get out of here and settle down."

"Couldn't agree more, Lottie." "Oh my god, let that die!"

Thomas left the room laughing, and she rolled her eyes in annoyance. Charlotte held Newt's hand again and brought her chair closer so she could lean her head against the bed. Today had been a frustrating, tear ridden day and exhaustion was eating away at her. The second she closed her eyes, she was out like a light.

The next morning Minho was shaking her shoulder, and she woke up with a groan. As her eyes were adjusting to the light he spoke, "Char, we found them! The other gladers, we found them!"

"You found them? When? How?" She groggily asked while rubbing her eyes.

"Thomas and I went out this morning and searched around the city, and they were here! Charlotte, even I can't believe it, but Tom was right. They got told that we escaped, so they escaped too and the pilot they took directed them here, to Denver. They were lied to, they didn't think they were leaving us behind."

Minho continued to talk, but Charlotte tuned him out. She had a difficult time believing that their intention wasn't to leave the team behind, she was so certain that her family had abandoned her. It took her heart a minute to open up to the idea that they weren't abandoned, but mislead.

"I assume Teresa is the leader of them?" She asked with a neutral tone. "Yeah. She is, but she found something."

She wasn't too interested, but she knew that Minho wouldn't care about it unless it was important. They were on the same page of not particularly liking Teresa, especially since it seemed like she tried to kill Charlotte. She remembered the girl screaming about her needing to be deactivated on spot. She took a deep breath, not wanting to defend her, but curiosity did seep into her bones. Thomas seemed so certain for so long that Teresa was one of the good guys that got played without knowing. She didn't know if she believed that since all she could remember was Teresa deceiving them at every turn. She wished Thomas could understand how she felt. "What did she find?"
