"How'd it go?" Big Red asked as they walked to school the next day.
"Another week." She sighed.
"Guess I owe you an apology."
"No, it was fun. We haven't hung out in forever."
"Yeah, but now it's another week." He said.
"It would be longer if my parents didn't like you though."
"I doubt they like me much anymore."
"It'll be fine. They've trusted you for years." She said. "Unless they think we're a couple or something. But I think the 'great romance' comment wasn't serious..."
"Why would it be a problem if they thought that?"
"You know..."
"Right. Got it."
"It's so stupid. It isn't the 1900's." She complained. "But I should still marry a doctor or lawyer or engineer or something?"
"Engineer isn't that far back on my list."
"And?"
"Just saying." He looked away, leaving her thinking. She laughed a little.
"Wouldn't that be weird."
"Would it?"
"Not really." She shrugged. "Friends end up dating sometimes."
"Ash?"
"Yeah?"
"Your date the other day didn't feel right?"
"Correct." She nodded.
"Well... we could see if it feels right with us?"
"Are you asking me out?" Ashlyn asked, smirking.
"Yeah, I am."
"Well... we have to wait a week first, but yeah. Sounds nice." She smiled. "We're here."
"What?"
"School." She replied. "See you later." She waved and went to class.
"Bye." He grinned.
"Hey, walk with me." Ashlyn grabbed Big Red's arm and pulled him over to the sidewalk.
"Okay, sure?"
"Which is a question because..."
"Because it was a bit of a demand."
"Oh. Sorry."
"Oh, it's not a problem. Any reason though?" He asked her.
"Eh. Not in a great mood. I had a test, and now I'll be home all day, so... yeah."
"Big test, small test?"
"Big."
"Have your grade back?"
"Nope." She shook her head. "But I feel like I didn't do great."
"What class is it?"
"English."
"Oh come on, you always do great in that."
"But I don't think I did this time..."
"That's what you think every time Ashlyn." He told her. "And you always get A's."
"Fine." She nudged him. "Thanks."
"Gotta go." Big Red gestured at his house. He hugged her. "Bye."
"Bye." She hugged him back. He ran off, and she kept walking home.
