A/N: sorry this is short I wasn't too inspired to write anything but wanted to update a story today :)
"Whatcha up to today?" Ashlyn asked Big Red over their FaceTime.
"Um... stuff." He awkwardly replied. It caused her to laugh, before she stopped in a frown.
"What do you mean?"
"Just... you know. Various random things."
"You're an awful liar, which should be fine... because why are you lying?" She asked.
"It's just— my mom is having me look at colleges right now, and—"
"I'm fine." She told him. "Last night was just... emotional already, so EJ going to college in months kinda bothered me. But I'm fine now."
"You sure?" He tilted his head, concerned.
"I don't want you to lie about it, I know you're going to college."
"That doesn't mean you're fine, Ash."
"No, but I'm fine with you talking about it." She smiled at him. "Promise."
"Okay. If it ever puts you in a bad mood I'll stop."
"Thank you."
"You're welcome." He smiled. "What are you up to?"
"I'm pretty bored, actually. Haven't done anything today and I don't have anything planned."
"I wish I could hang out with you, but... yeah, college."
"I do too." She shrugged. "Good luck."
"You too."
"What?"
"Um, habit... but I mean, good luck finding something to do."
"Thanks." She laughed lightly.
"Thanks to you too." He smiled. "I should go."
"See ya." She hung up. She made her way to her desk, pulling out a notebook. She started pouring out her thoughts of Big Red (eventually) leaving, along with her cousin, and ended in tears.
