Rottmnt Headcanon Scenario 1: Regular Pet Turtle Meets Mutant Turtles

The pet turtle is the same species as the guys in their specific headcanons

(This doesn't apply to the "All section" but, the pet turtle's personality can be based off of the previous tmnt iterations and/or if you had experienced raising a pet turtle)

Also same pet turtle will go by using he or she pronouns (won't really affect the headcanons that much, just as a sake of variety since I always keep the reader pronouns' gender neutral as well)

Slight spoilers in Donnie's part (mostly towards season 2 stuff but, nothing too serious)

All

- Aside from Mikey, the brothers were unsure on how to react

Since were you taking care of a medium sized version of them

- Absolutely used a soft toothbrush to see if the turtle does that one happy dance

Spoilers: it happens and they internally screamed in joy

- Won't mind helping you out (mostly watching over the pet turtle while you're busy)

- Tries not to think about the possibility if an oozesquito changing the pet turtle's whole physical appearance and other side effects

Raph

- Wasn't expecting his medium size counterpart to be slightly protective over you

- Has a few bite marks near his legs during the first few weeks (not too serious but, the scratches are slowly healing)

- Every once in a while, Raph will use kitchen tongs to drag the food inside the tank (pretending that the prey is still alive)

Almost dropped the utensils seeing the pet turtle chomp down the food when he saw that for the first time

- He tries his best not to laugh whenever you have to lift up the pet turtle for a bath (the turtle always does this face D:<)

- A comforting solidarity despite having different personalities

- Had a few times close to dozing off because of the lightbulb inside the pet turtle's tank

Donnie

- Almost jumped after seeing the turtle peek out of (his/her) hiding spot in the tank

- A tiny bit jealous that (he/she) will return your affection in a positive manner

Either by resting (his/her) neck on your arm, leg, or hand

Eventually notices it, causing Donnie to turn away before you could react

- Neutral seeing the shell and how the carapace's backbones are slightly visible

Ever since that one encounter with the Shredder

He sometimes gets nightmares with his shell full of scars

But, he knows you'll keep your turtle in good health

- However, will watch a few 'how to take care of turtles videos'

Mostly for the equipment and other additional information as a precaution

And testing if said equipment is accurate so you don't have to go through the annoying technical troubles 

- Has a work in progress camouflage battleshell

As a result of seeing the turtle sleeping halfway in the sediment similar to their shell color

- Tempted to make a protective shell for the tiny turtle until you politely declined on the offer

- His brothers tease him with how you two are like the single parents of raising a kid

Donnie created Shelldon and you adopting a pet turtle

Mikey

- Gushed over how adorable (he/she) is

- Ever since Mikey arranged the dish bowl as if it were a gourmet food at a fancy restaurant

(He/She) will only eat in that manner (You have a love hate thing because of it)

- Taught (him/her) a peek-a-boo trick (Telling the pet turtle to hide inside the shell)

Only gotten to hiding half of the face back into the shell but, he says its baby steps

- Sometimes on his plastron watching over the tiny turtle

- Has a notebook filled with drawings of the pet turtle's favorite and least favorite foods

First page are constant reminders on what NOT to feed to regular turtles

And the rest of the pages are attempts of trying new foods (the ones listed as favorite food has more detail along with a mini recipe that's easy to follow, in case he's busy on a mission)

Leo

- The smaller red slider turtle often looks toward your direction than him

- Despite that, he still wants to be friendly with (him/her)

- Started recording short videos after seeing the tiny turtle following by your side

- Always tries to get some reaction out of (him/her) but, hasn't had the best luck on his own

And when all else fails turns to you for some advice

- Not used to the fact that, the tiny turtle has long nails compared to his

But, will slip in a pedicure one liner whenever you have to cut the pet turtle's claws

- Definitely blushed seeing the pet turtle doing the fluttering claws when you reached out your index finger to (him/her)

Has no idea how to explain that gesture to you without creating an awkward scene

However, Donnie bluntly told you the reason why (mostly to get back at Leo for getting pineapple pizza lol)

- Reads his comics aloud to the smaller turtle whenever the two turtles are alone

He tried not to look embarrassed when you caught him posing during one of the scenes while he was holding the book

But, really appreciates keeping that secret between the both of you

I had this prompt around 2021 before I took a hiatus

So this is a mini headcanon scenario while I try to finish my other book within this week
