The support-general course. | quirkless! deku au

ch. 3 | the tip of the iceberg

a/n: if you havent read the description, bakugo will be a bit nicer in this au as he felt a small piece of guilt after deku dropped his hero dream and thought a little of it was his fault and yea.

"hatsume cmon! do you have everything with you?" izuku rushes, quickly strapping his belt with all his gadgets around his waist. "yea yea! just one sec izu, im deciding if i should bring my net catcher, or my catapult!" mei says, looking through her gadgets, stars forming in her eyes.

"bring the net catcher! their not going to let you bring a whole catapult mei, now lets go! i dont want to be late!" deku rushes, facepalming himself mentally at the behavior of his friend.

"okay okay im ready!" mei goes towards the door and leaves, deku following in suit.

the difference between the two is that midoriya uses less flashy equipment, making his devices always compact while hatsume's are always bold and extravagant. deku stores his little machines in his belt, the most noticeable thing he wears, no one can remove it but him and all his devices are censored not to work in other people's hands, that idea was also used by mei to detect when people would some close for fighting purposes.

hatusme likes to showcase her 'babies' rather than hiding them, a confident girl. she wears them freely unlike deku and is ready to use them at any moment. despite being assertive and off-setting mei is super smart in her crafts (of course, unlike deku she moves on to different ones a lot so most of them break easy or are forgetting some components) and cares about shinso and deku a lot.

"izu, who do you think i can advertise my babies on?!" mei exclaims proudly, smoke coming off her nose. "uhm..your best bet will be someone named..tenya iida..just say you'll give him some gear so it'll be fair..he seems to admire sportsmanship a lot." izuku mumbles.

"i didnt get anything you were saying! but i'll take your word for it izu!" hatsume beams, in fact, she did understand what izuku said..more or less..

the duo met up with shinso soon after and they headed to the stadium filled with people.

"and the first battle is..!" midnight spoke through her mic, waiting for the slot machine look alike to pick a game. "..obstacle race!" midnight proceeds to exclaim, flashing her whip to the big display screen.

"all eleven first-year classes will race along a four-kilometer-long obstacle course around the festival stadium. Participants are allowed to use their quirks or support items freely to try and win, as long as they do not leave the race course. The first forty-two competitors that finish advanced to the second event." midnight explains the rules.

midoriya contemplates with himself which to use, grapple hook, extendable staff, and..steel shield is what he chooses, right in time as midnight yelled the words "GO!" and everyone was off.

all headed towards the hallway to the course, except a few got a head start, those being, todoroki, bakugo, uraraka, deku (via his grapple hook), and tsuyu. 

"and their off! in first place we have shoto todoroki from the hero course! will he be able to keep the lead with people on his tail!?" mic started announcing.

all the students quickly made their way out off the hall and was faced by a bunch of "robo inferno", the zero pointers from the hero courses entrance exam. only todoroki, bakugo, tsuyu, and deku werent fazed by this.

"here we have the robo inferno from the hero course entrance exam!! will these students be able to get past the zero pointers?!"

tsu quickly hopped away, from the robots, midoriya attached his grapple hook to the zero pointers and quickly went back down. uraraka made herself float, and iida did a semi recipro burst, not to the point his engines would stop working but fast enough to get himself away. todoroki let out a disappointed sigh at the robots and froze them enough for him to get past but would collapse on his schoolmates.

and it did.

"woah!! we see the robots being cold frozen by shoto todoroki! but this had costed him his lead, will he catch up?- AND DOWN THEY GO! what a amazing play!" mic continues to narrate.

kirishima then breaks his way out of the robot that had squished him, "man! if anyone else were down there they'd be toast!" kirishima looked to his left and had seen a person from class 1-B emerge with a yell from the busted robot too. "woah! if anyone-" tetsutetsu had looked kirishima dead in the eye.

"OUR QUIRKS ARE SO SIMILAR CMON!!!"

kirishima and tetsutetsu continue to race.

bakugo blasts himself up from the robots and all other students continue to use their quirks to get away. 

"now in lead we have shoto todoroki from the hero course! katsuki bakugo from the hero course! and izuku midoriya from the general and support course! neck and neck they have made it to the next obstacle! THE FALL! a canyon that must be trekked across by walking along tightropes! if you fall? your eliminated!!" 

todoroki quickly makes an ice bridge for himself. "deku?" bakugo stares deku in the eye while izuku gets out his extendable staff.

"we can talk  later kacchan, bye!"  deku rushes hops to the first pillar, not using the tightropes. bakugo quickly catches up by flinging himself into the air and using his explosions to get away.

the other students follow quickly, mei showing off her gadgets and using a similar grapple hook like izuku's to get across leaving uraraka and tsu a little stunned at her cackle. deku looked at mei's hook and yelled at her, "so thats where my blue prints went..MEI!!!!"

iida stood awkwardly on the tightropes pushing himself with the engines on his calves.

"how awkward for tenya iida!!!" mic yelled, making iida's face go dark.

"and look at that!! shoto todoroki and katsuki bakugo have made it to the mine field!!

okay, i take it back, now izuku really was stunned.

"MINE FIELD????"
