After only a few sentence deep into telling L everything, he stopped me and called for Watari to pick us up. I could only assume to was to get away from the public eye. I gave a brief run down of everything I could remember from Ashley, and waited for an on-slot of questions. Some I was able to answer, and some I wasn't. Serval times L began muttering to himself as he thought out loud. Which was a lot different from his silent staring at random objects or myself.

I started with the obvious; that Light's ability to kill is supernatural, which lead to myself wondering if the god of death could be killed. But that's beside the point. I went into detail with the things I had seen for myself, from the show, that is. Even now, I still haven't told L that bit. About the show. For some reason, I just can't bring myself to do so.

From there, I told L everything the way Ashley had explained it to me, up to the point where the detectives catch the third Kira, and Light regains his memories.

"And after that, I'm just as much in the dark as everyone else." I shrug, having finally revealed everything I could possibly think of for the time.

"Obviously we knew that Kira was responsible for the deaths of those twelve FBI agents," he says, referring to the other detectives also, "and I had my own suspicions that he was involved in Naomi Misora's disappearance. But claiming that Kira was behind the hijacking of the transit bus would suggest that he can kill in multiple ways. Not just heart attacks." L's voice trails off at his last sentence, bringing a thumb to his lip while staring at the floor of the car.

"Exactly, but it makes sense, right? Kira forced a criminal to hijack the bus, using his notebook. So when panic ensued, the agent revealed himself as FBI and showed him his badge. From that point he was able to force the agent into doing what he needed, which was killing him and the others."

His dull eyes meet mine, and he removes his thumb, "If this is true, then whoever was on that bus is Kira."

"And I'm sure you can guess who was on it." I say under my breath, though he could still hear, "Maybe if we're lucky, the bus will have a camera."

He hums in agreement before again losing himself in his thoughts. While I doubt L believes any of what I've said, it would seem he's still considering the possibilities. Humoring me. Entertaining the thought of what if.

"If a second Kira was to appear, their joining of forces would not bode well for us."

"Nope." I watch him hold his gaze at the tops of his knees, deep in thought. If anything, at least he won't be caught off guard. The only problem now is I don't have nearly as much detail as I do from the parts that I watched on the show, but only what was briefly explained to me.

I can only hope it will be enough.

...

The two had barely gotten through the door before the others started giving updates. L went straight to his computer and began typing away as Mr. Yagami in formed him of Kira's latest victims.

Katelyn shoulders slump with a breath forced through her nose, and her eyes fall. The draining feeling of defeat creeps up her spine after the fruitless field trip.

Well, not fruitless to L, she thought. He gained a lot of insight, if he can ever bring himself to truly believe. But Katelyn feels no closer to waking up from this nightmare. Was it even possible for L to help? Maybe he isn't meant too.

Shuffling away from the others, she heads toward the kitchen for a drink. Pulling a glass from the cabinet, and taking out the picture of lemonade shebhad made earlier in the week, she pours herself some.

After returning the picture and drinking almost a fourth of the lemonade she poured, she leans down on the breakfast bar, resting her elbows on it's surface with her chin resting in her palm. Absentmindedly, she stares at the group of investigators while she replays the events of the day, mulling them over. Her mind drifts to the night at Ashley's, when she had woken up from her sleep. Of course she remembers going to the bathroom and the glowing light, but the rest seems fuzzy. Katelyn can't help but feel she's missing something important.

Her train of thought is broken when she notices a certain detective approaching her. A dusting of pink pricks his cheeks from the small smile she gives.

"Hey Matsuda." She greets the youngest of the group, "Anything new?"

"Two dozen victims have been reported today. And that's just from Japan."

The girl shakes her head before taking another sip, "You'd think criminals would stop their illegal activities. But then again, they probably don't expect to get caught."

"You're probably right. And when they do, nothing is stopping them from becoming Kira's next victim."

"Yeah... poor bastards." She mutters before finishing hr lemonade.

Matsuda watches her eyes as they fix on the surface of the counter top, her usual smile gone from her face.

"Hey, um... I don't mean to pry but... is everything okay?"

The girl throws him a surprised look, and he knows the sudden question wasn't one she was expecting.

She stands straight, and sighs, "Yeah I'm fine. I think I just need to find something to occupy myself with."

Was the case getting to her? Usually she's so riled up about these things. A smile of his own spreads, "Hey I have an idea!" he says beaming. He breaks his gaze, the warmth on his face returning, "Maybe sometimes we could hang out sometime! You know, if we ever get any free time." He smiles brightly.

A soft smile of appreciation spreads itself across the woman's face. She always liked Matsuda upbeat attitude, "Yeah that would be great. I'd love too."

"Matsuda, I need you to make a phone call." L calls from his chair, effectively ending whatever the younger officer was saying.

The young officer steps toward the renowned detective, leaving Katelyn alone with her thoughts. She sighs, places her glass in the sink, and retreats to her room for the evening.
