It felt nice to be back home after the craziness we had, but I knew it was far from over. Soon, I was getting nightmares of my own. That night while I was sleeping, my mind was filled with images of Walker killing Nico, and I tried to run to stop him, but I would move slower and slower despite how hard I was trying. In the nightmare, Walker wasn't wearing his usual Captain America uniform; it was black and red instead of red, white, and blue. He looked like a scary ghost I once saw in a horror movie. He looked at me and smiled sinisterly, "Soon, everyone will answer to me as their Captain America," his voice echoed in my mind. "No, you're abusing the title!" I screamed. "You killed somebody innocent!" I backed away slowly as he sauntered forward. "Next, I'm going to kill your husband, and then you," he whispered dangerously. "NOOOO!!!" I screamed, and I closed my eyes tight and then woke up in a cold sweat. "Sadie, sweetheart?"
Bucky was trying to bring me out of my nightmare and calm me down. I took a deep breath and used the square breathing technique to relax. "What happened?" I asked shakily. "You were having a nightmare, you kept screaming for Walker to not kill Nico," "I'm sorry for waking you up," I apologized to Bucky. "It's okay; the important thing is that your safe," he held my hand and stroked it gently. I was slowly trying to catch my breath, and I smiled, "Thank you," "Do you want to talk about what you saw in your nightmare?" my husband asked, concerned. I nodded, "Yes, you have a right to know," I laced my fingers with his because holding his hand was one of my sources of comfort. I never kept anything from Bucky, and that's why we have so much trust in each other. We always told each other everything. "I saw Walker in my nightmare killing Nico, and I tried to stop it, but I was moving in slow motion. Then he turned on me and threatened to kill you and me," I got the chills when I recalled my bad dream. Bucky touched my face, "I'm sorry, Sadie. I won't let him hurt you or any of us. If he tries to cause any more problems, then we'll be ready to stop him," he assured me. I smiled fondly, "That's a good plan," I leaned in and kissed him and he kissed me back. I could feel the coldness of his metal arm around me, and it was oddly comforting. "I will always protect you," he smiled. "Ditto," I smiled back.
While Bucky and I were safe and sound in our house with our son, the Flag Smashers had managed to get through the technology and proceeded to hold hostages. We hoped that Sam made it back.
To pass the time, Bucky, Anthony, and I decided to go to Louisiana to visit Sam and his family.
