Things were starting to go very wrong. Karli had called Sam's sister, Sarah, and threatened her and her kids; we had to stop her from carrying out her threat. Sadie and Sam flew through the air, and I ran. Sam went ahead of us while Sadie and I were close behind for backup. "Karli! You called my sister? That's how we're going to play this?" "I would never hurt her," she said amused. Karli studied Sam, as if she was deciding what to do next, "I wanted to understand you better," she saw me and Sadie, and I stayed by her, because I wasn't going to let Karli hurt her. "I see you, um, didn't come alone," "You have to end this now," Sam warned. "I don't wanna hurt you. You're a tool in the regimes I want to destroy. You are not hiding behind a shield. If I were to kill you, it'd be meaningless. I was going to ask you to join me. Or do the world a favor and let me go," she reminded me of an animal stalking its prey, ready to pounce. "Leave him alone, Karli," Sadie warned. Her purple magic was swirling in her hands and I got in battle stance. That's when the worst of the fight began.
Sadie and I ran after Karli while attempting to get away from advancing Flag Smashers, and then Sadie and Sam flew after them. Suddenly, Walker and Hoskins were on our tail, invading our plan. We banded together to defend ourselves from our enemies. Sadie flew into the air and projected a force field to block the knives that were being thrown, and I caught two of them and threw them back. A group of Flag Smashers captured Hoskins and tied him up, Walker attempted to intercept them. Hoskins attempted to cut the ropes they tied him up in, and suddenly, Karli threw a knife towards Walker, but Hoskins got stabbed, and was killed instantly.
The world seemed to grow silent after that horrific act, and Walker attempted to revive his friend, "Lemar. Hey Lemar...Lemar!" he cried. Anger swept over his face and he want ballistic. Walker ran full speed towards the group and he seemed to be focused on the one named Nico. Sadie, Sam, and I ran after Walker to stop him from doing something he would regret.
He shoved Nico to the stone stairs of the fountain in the town square. I watched Sadie fly towards the fight and attempted to block Walker's attack as he raised the shield above his head ready to strike! "You're making a mistake! It wasn't him!" she tried with all her might to use her magic to stop the attack. "Think about what you're doing!" she screamed desperately. He didn't listen to her, and he shoved her hard out of the way and knocked her down the stairs, and I saw her arm break. I wanted to kill him for hurting Sadie. "BUCKY!" she screamed in pain. She was holding her arm close to her body to keep it elevated. "SADIE!" I shouted in horror. I ran to her aid and helped her up. I gently kept her close to me so her arm could be elevated. Sam ran to us to see what was going on, "Are you okay?" he asked Sadie. "I'm fine, just broke my arm again, not a big deal at all," my wife joked. Suddenly, she winced because of the severity of her pain. "We'll get you to the hospital," I promised. She nodded and gritted her teeth to keep from screaming. It hurt to see her in all this pain.
Suddenly, Walker was still in his fit of rage. That moment gave me a flashback to Steve fighting Tony Stark in Siberia, he was mad that I got hurt, and could have killed him if he wanted to, but he didn't. He never killed anyone when it wasn't necessary. I wanted to kill Walker for hurting my wife, but it wasn't necessary or going to do any good.
"It wasn't me!" Nico begged desperately. Walker let out a horrific yell, raised the shield above his head, and bludgeoned Nico to death... "NOOOO!!!" Sadie screamed. I held her close so she wouldn't have to see the aftermath. Civilians were recording the incident on their phones, so it would be shared all over the world. This could be the end of the new Captain America. There was nothing we could do now...
We took Sadie to the hospital to get her arm fixed; she ended up passing out in my arms because of the pain. She was crying and sweat dripped down her face. I wish I could have taken the pain away from her, and seeing her wheeled to any operating room was like a knife to my chest. "How long will she be out?" I asked the doctor exasperatedly. "At least a couple of hours, Mr. Barnes, the break in her arm was in two places and requires emergency surgery," he replied. I raised my metal hand to my head, trying to process everything that was happening. "Don't worry, your wife will be fine and she will recover," the doctor assured me. "I'm not leaving until she's recovering," I vowed. I wasn't going to leave Sadie to deal with this injury alone, I promised I will always be by her side. "Bucky, we need to go find Walker. I know you're worried and you have every right to be, but Sadie will be okay," Sam told me. "But I made a promise, Sam. Sadie has always stuck with me, and I want to repay her. It was one of the vows I made at our wedding," I sat down in a chair and put my face in my hands stressed out. "I know you love your wife and want to keep your vows, she'll be out of surgery before you know it, waiting for you. She knows that you're keeping your vows, because she loves you," Sam patted my shoulder. I nodded, "You're right, let's go get wannabe Captain America,"
While she was in surgery, Sam and I ran off to confront Walker. We didn't know what to expect from somebody as dangerous as he was.
