Coming out to family

-Leorio denies his sexuality at first. Throughout his childhood his parents and grandparents instilled that being gay is a sin so there was a bit of internalized homophobia when he was growing up. He knew he liked girls but whenever he saw a boy he would just get so flustered and confused and he never understood why.

-I feel like Pietro was Leorio's first love as a child but he always beat himself up because he thought that it wasn't "normal."

-there were nights where Leorio would cry because he was so confused and scared because he thought that he wasn't "normal." He thought he was a disappointment to his family.

-(I Hc that Leorio has an older sister who is a lesbian) His older sister comes out to their parents a couple of years before Leorio went to do the hunters exam and they were pissed. They told her to get out and never come back.

-Leorio gets a call from his sister and she asks to meet and when they do, Leorio starts bawling and tells her everything that he's been going through. Ofc she's supportive and understands what her little brother has been going through. They talk for a while and Leorio finally accepts himself.

-He starts crushing on Kurapika during the early months of the hunters exam. And they get close.

-I feel like when they were on Zevil Island, they had talked about their love lives and stuff and Leorio fell in love with Kurapika more.

-Leorio came out to his family during the greed Island Arc after coming home to take a visit. It didn't go well.

-Kurapika always questioned his gender because yes, he was born a boy but, he had feminine features. People always mistook them as a girl. Which they don't mind. But something about that bothered him. He didn't feel like a boy, neither a girl. They didn't want to associate with either gender. They just wanted to be, Kurapika.

-I feel like the Kurta were very peaceful people with no issues about how their people identified gender-wise or who they loved sexuality wise so it was easy for Kurapika to come out to his parents.

-as soon as Kurapika was in the real world, he realized that it really fucking sucked. He never understood why people hated others just because of their sexual orientation or even their gender. He always questioned why people couldn't live at peace with eachother.

-Kurapika doesn't believe in the gender binary.

-Kurapika developed a crush on Leorio during trick tower. Its only increased more during Zevil island.

Coming out to eachother

-I feel like they were hanging out one day at Kurapika's hotel room and they were talking about random stuff and then the subject of dating came up. Ofc Leorio being his pervy ass self starts talking abt women in the most vulgar way, but then he notices that Kurapika looks uncomfortable so he immediately stops and asks what's wrong. Kurapika's like "yeah abt that.. I'm kinda.. gay."

-Leorio gets flustered and starts apologizing bc he made them uncomfy but then Kurapika looked confused and they were like "you don't hate me for being like this?" Leorio was shocked because he didn't hate them. He could never hate them. "No! Of course not!" Kurapika looked so relieved.

-Kurapika then asks him about his sexuality but not in a way to pressure him ofc. He starts stuttering and  he says smth fruity. (Something like: "I mean, yeah, it's obvious I like women but I wouldn't mind being pegged by a guy every once in a while!") and they start to laugh. "So you're bi?" Leorio nods looking all embarrassed.

-They talk more about things and they eventually hug it out. They won't tell eachother how they feel for a very long time from now.

-I feel like this happens during the YorkNew arc since they were together for a little bit of it.

Inside jokes

-Leorio plays sweater weather a lot. Kurapika knows the words by heart.

-When they went to their first pride festival they were both getting hit on by a lot of people. They lost eachother a couple of times but they eventually found eachother quick. They joked about one of the people flirting with them calling Leorio a dilf bc he had the kids with them as well.

-Kurapika always says fruity every time Leorio says something remotely gay.

-They always joke about who's gaydar is accurate. (It's Leorio's btw)
