I've been delaying this because when I had made this chapter (like 5 days ago) I didn't have any ideas lmao. But now I do!

It's called the "co-parenting" AU.

An AU in which Kurapika(25), a young elementary school teacher adopts and raises Alluka, Nanika, and Killua after their parents and brothers had gotten arrested due to their crimes as assassins. Alluka and Nanika are 3 while Killua is 4. (Killua is Kurapika's student so he fought hard to get these kids out of the system and they try to get the kids to adjust to normal living.)

Leorio(27) is the school's nurse and Gon's older cousin who is raising him with the help of Aunt Mito ofc.

Now, how are they co-parenting?

What really happens is that during the kids' lunch, Kurapika would go down to the nurses office and hang there for the next half hour with Leorio, helping him with little things, like answering phone calls from concerned parents or looking over documents of students who need specific medications, or, if they're not doing that, they're just chatting about how the new "parenting life" is for Kurapika. Leorio gives them advice here and there but he notices that when Kurapika is talking about the kids, he tends to forget himself in the process. He rarely takes care of himself because they're so occupied with the kids and trying his dammed hardest to make them as happy as possible.

So Leorio suggests that since Gon and Killua are close friends, he and Gon could come over after school and help out around the house. Of course, Kurapika rejects it at first because they feel like it's just too much responsibility for the poor man but nonetheless, is very grateful for the offer. Leorio being the good person he is, said that the offer still stood and he was willing to help any time. All they had to do was ask.

Literally a couple days after that whole conversation, Kurapika came in the nurses office looking beat. So he takes the offer that Leorio had given to him and that's when that whole fiasco starts.

Onto the headcannons :)

-Kurapika hates to give the kids timeouts because he feels like he's hurting their feelings. Leorio had to reiterate to them several times that sometimes, talking it out may not always work.

-One day, Killua threw a tantrum because he didn't get the last cookie and it hurt Kurapika to do it, but they put him in time out until he calmed himself down. Kurapika felt guilty while Leorio had to reassure him that it was okay. It'll get less tough over time.

-Leorio helps out with grading papers for Kurapika while they go on ahead and get the kids settled for bed.

-Since Gon and Leorio come over often, Kurapika and Leorio decided to let Killua and Gon share his bedroom.

-Kurapika and Leorio are comfortable enough as friends to share a bed

-They develop feelings for eachother as the school year progresses.

-Kurapika often forgets to make themselves lunch so Leorio makes them some the night before.

-Kurapika gets stressed easily and when they need to take a break, they ask Melody to come in their classroom for a bit for a music activity while they go and take a breather.

-Melody is very much involved in the co-parenting scene as a babysitter while Leorio and Kurapika go to the store and stuff.

-Whenever Melody babysits, the house will always be clean because she knows how to occupy the kids with fun little activities.

-Leorio and Kurapika are in a semi-cannon relationship during the school year and they officially become a thing around the end of the school year.

-Leorio would often hug and kiss Kurapika before he has to go back to the classroom. (The kisses are usually quick pecks on the lips or cheeks and they even did this when they were both friends. Kurapika enjoys this very much.)

-Kurapika often gets frustrated at himself because he feels like he's not doing this "parenting thing" correctly. Leorio always reassures them with a small pep-talk.

-Leorio is more open about his sexuality and never really brung his old lovers into Gon's life because they never lasted long due to the fact that it'd be so overwhelming for Gon to see new people every once in a while and it mostly never lasts long because Leorio is technically Gon's "dad" and no one wants to date a young guy who has a kid.

-Kurapika often finds refuge in Leorio's company. They often cuddle with him because all of their stress is relieved knowing that Leorio is by their side.
