{A/N: this takes place a week since most people left, so halfway through the holidays, I don't know how they work in England, also (y/n/n) means your nickname. Also thank you so much for +3k reads, it means a lot}

Draco and I have grown close, being the only two Slytherins left in the school we have been spending all our time together in the common room. Draco is slowly opening up to me and being himself as am I to him. I still haven't talked to my brother nor his friends, but I don't intend too anytime soon.

As I walk down the stairs, I notice Draco sitting on the couch with a book in his hand.

"Hey Dray, what are you reading?" also another thing is that over the past week Draco and I have started calling each other nicknames he calls me (y/n/n) now.

"Oh hey, (y/n/n). It's just a muggle book called 'The Getting of Wisdom' I found it in the library it's quite an old book, I don't get most of it. So far it's about a rebellious girl from Australia who is sent to a school in a city." {I did read this book and I really didn't get it,}

"you really are getting into muggle literature, aren't you?" I giggled, I don't know why but I did, it is weird; whenever I am around Draco, I feel different, most likely just being really close friends. Yeah, that makes sense.

What I don't realise is that Draco blushed at my comment, regained composer of himself a sarcastically laughed at me.

"Oh, ha-ha Potter, the pureblood likes muggle things." He hesitates for a second, he appears to be thinking about what he just said. When he finally comes to his sense he stings together a sentence "D-do you still promise not to tell anyone about it though?" he is worried, I wonder why? But I push that aside and nod. I wouldn't betray him like that he is my friend, and friends are like family if chosen well.

We eventually decide to walk to the great hall together, although I walked in first and he followed later as to avoid suspicion. Even though I wasn't talking to Harry, I didn't want him knowing I was friends with Malfoy just yet, and Draco seemed okay with this, or at least he didn't fight me on it.

Draco and I sat distanced but still close enough to be able to secretly send notes, it was fun having someone to talk to other than Carter since arriving at Hogwarts, I mean I did talk to some people from other houses, but I mean as friends. Hermione doesn't count right now because she tries to be a mediator between Harry and I, she is always trying to keep the peace.

When I sit down at the table, I have a clear view of the Gryffindor table. There aren't many of them but enough that they are in small groups. But the only person I can seem to focus on is Harry – sure Ron is right next to him, but Ron didn't call me evil to my face.

I am only paying attention to my brother and I don't notice the parchment that had been slide in front of me until another one hits me in the head. I look over at Draco and read the note that hit me first. It read 'Really? To focused on your brother to pay attention to me?' I looked over to him again and smirked. I read the second one, 'Want to sneak around the castle later to see if we can find something to do other than hanging out in the common room or library while we read?' I wrote on parchment in reply saying that I thought we should do that.

-time skip to after breakfast-

Draco and I were on our way to the common room to try and see if we could find anything, but I noticed the stairs.

"How about we go upstairs instead of to the dungeon area?" I asked. Draco looked at me with clear hesitance but slowly nodded. "Good, because it is already really cold outside, and the common room is always super cold." So, we ran up the stair, and we were walking around until we heard footsteps, out of instinct I pull Draco into a random corridor that we hadn't been in yet. I didn't think where we were.

When the footsteps pass, I hear a small meow. I look down to see Mrs Norris. This time Draco grabs me and runs further down the corridor we had entered. We came upon a door and we could hear Filch talking. Draco tried to open the door, but couldn't as there was a lock on it, he went to attempt to kick it down, but I stopped him and glared at him. I decided to use a spell I had seen in a book.

"Alohomora!" I whispered and the lock silently fell. I opened the door. Without turning to look in the room I wonder where we ended up. "Hey Dray, uh- where are we?"

"Well, we are on the third floor, and we ran from left to- oh no!"

"What? What's wrong?"

"uh- we are the third-floor corridor that is on the right side. The side that is out of bounds unless we want to die!" and now I understand him freaking out, I notice that there was music playing and I slowly turn to see where it's coming from only to see a three-headed dog. I try not to scream, but I need to make sure that Draco doesn't turn around. But I have no idea how to do that. I can hear him panicking but I know he hasn't turned around.

Ok, all I have to do is get Draco to exit the room without alerting the creature that is currently sleeping while also avoiding Filch and his cat. Should be easy enough.
