Dev's Diary Continued

⁕⁕⁕

"Charu, what do you mean?" My shock was obvious. I have a list of two reasons why Charu could not get married.

1) She was mine, and I do not like sharing.

2) We're so young! (Also, she's mine, so back off)

(*Aarohi noting how possessive her dad was*)

"Well, the groom's family is here." She gestured to inside her house.

"Please tell me your going to reject that guy," I pleaded, and Charu chewed on her lip.

"Charu?" An elderly man's voice came from inside, and Charu shot me an apologetic glance before closing the door.

I decided to wait outside for her, I sat down and waited for at least an hour.

"Dev?" I heard her voice, I snapped awake from my daydreams. Charu was in front of me, dressed in jeans and a white tank top.

"What are you still doing here?" She hissed under her breath, and I wrapped an arm around her waist.

"Waiting to do this," I murmured into her ear before stealing away a quick peck on her lips. She rolled her eyes.

"You said no to that groom guy right?" I asked with a hint of desperation. Charu smiled sweetly at me and allowed her finger to trace across my cheek.

"Dev, you're the only one for me." She rested her head on my chest, and a broad grin widened on my face.

"But, I don't know... He's a normal guy while your... your famous-" Charu blabbered and I tilted her chin so that she was facing me.

"Charu, all I need is for you to be happy." I smiled, even though only I knew how much it hurt on the inside.

"Charu?" The elderly man called out once more.

(*Aarohi hating that elderly man because he keeps interrupting*)

"I... I have to go." She spared a glance at me before going back inside.

I knew the hardships she'd face if we did end up dating once more, the threats and comments. A selfish part of me wished to still have her with me, pretending that she wouldn't receive the usual feedback. I smiled when I knew that it would hurt, I knew that it would become a lingering pain that would never fade.

(*The kids go silent*)

I knew, that if I loved her, I'd have to let go.
