Dev's Diary Continued

***

Charu's wedding was canceled.

Charu called it off, because the groom had a girlfriend. Which was atrocious when he was about to get married. I'm happy, she deserves better.

I'd opted to visit her yesterday, I got a mixed reaction. I knocked on her door when it was a rainy day. She'd opened the door, wearing Pajamas. She looked comfortably snuggled in a sweatshirt and PJ pants.

"Hey," I smiled and spoke softly, her eyes widened.

"Come in, you idiot!" She ushered me inside, away from the pouring rain.

She frowned at me, and started to scold me, "You of all people should know not to walk in the rain! You yell at me when I do it,"

"Are you done ranting?" I laughed, and she shot a pointed glare at me. But a smile ruined it, it slowly spread across her facial features. We just stood there for a few seconds, watching each other. Randomly, she hugged me. I let out a breath that I didn't know was holding. I wrapped my arms around her waist, she rested her head on my chest.

I held her in my arms once more and kissed her forehead.

"I missed you," Her voice was thick with emotion, and she nestled herself in my arms. I didn't want to speak or move, I didn't want to ruin the moment. I just wanted to stay like this forever.

"Movie?" I smiled, and she returned it. She left to get the popcorn, and I decided to explore her house. There were photo's of her everywhere, which I didn't mind. I saw an adorable baby photo of her chubby cheeks. There were a few photos of an elderly woman, whom I assumed to be her mother.

"Dev?" I heard Charu's voice call out, I turned around and saw that she had popcorn ready to go. I sat down with her. She snuggled closer to me and rested her head on my chest.

"Charulatha Reddy," An elderly woman's strict voice spoke through clenched teeth.

"Who is that boy?"

Oh shit.

It was her mother.
