And suddenly,
You're not alone
But not in a caring way,
Not an enveloping way;
In a strangling way,
A claustrophobic way.
Your own body,
Slave
Captive
To phantom violent touches
of the past
That hurt fresh
Like open wounds
Every moment is not your own
Because you feel them
Rasping in your ear
Gripping your wrists
Holding you down
Forever keeping you
From breathing fresher air
From escaping what's been done
I guess this is the new normal
And this phantom is here to stay
