“Hey”, Amaya chirped as blush crept on her face as soon as she picked up Atul’s phone call. She was sitting in her balcony, admiring the potted calendulas and relishing the strongly brewed herbal tea on a hectic weekend. She was extremely tired after all, she had rearranged her almirah and helped her mother in the household chores.

“Hello, my cupcake”, Atul greeted her with a grin on his face being oblivious to the upcoming storm in his life. He was lying on his bed and was excited to share the good news after all, he had finally convinced his parents to meet Amaya’s family. Little did he know, it was all a facade.

Amaya turned scarlet-red upon hearing the endearment. Atul surely had an effect on her. “Someone is really happy being away from me”, she teased him after all, they would have been enjoying their date over the weekend if Atul was in the city.

“So, someone is missing me”, Atul chortled as he placed a gentle kiss on the phone making Amaya blush hard.
Amaya could feel the butterflies dancing in her stomach as her cheeks turned red.

“Amaya, stop being so shy”, Atul guffawed and she hid her face in her palms, giggling all the while.

“Come on, dear. You just can’t giggle and blush.”, Atul whined chuckling as he imagined his prospective bride blushing hard.

“What else I should do?” Amaya teased him and it was Atul’s turn to go red.

Atul chuckled, “Make preparations for our wedding” while Amaya was awestruck.

“Really?” she stuttered while Atul nodded in affirmation without even realizing that they were on a phone call and Amaya could not even see him bobbing his head.

The silence was not taken well by Amaya. Her heartbeat raced as she mumbled, “Did they agree?” praying to all the Gods for a positive answer. She dreaded a denial from Atul’s parents especially when she loved him from the bottom of her heart.

“Yes, honey. My parents agreed.” Atul said expressing his joy while Amaya joined both of her hands and looked towards the sky mumbling a ‘thank you' to the Almighty.

“It was difficult to convince my father. Your father was easy to deal with.” Atul whined while Amaya chuckled.

Her happiness was short-lived as her insecurities seeped in. Her heart began to thump really fast as she voiced out her fears, “Atul, what if they won’t like me?”

“Amaya, trust me for once. Whatever happens, just remember that we are together. We will overcome everything. Just cheer up.” Atul suggested. He despised the circumstances Amaya had gone through. Despite she was an impeccable woman, Amaya had tons of insecurities in her heart.

Amaya hummed while Atul continued, “Amaya, you need to shed your inhibitions. You are perfect in your own sense. You need to stop worrying about what others think of you. Just enjoy your own beautiful self and stop thinking about others for once.”

Amaya hummed in response. She felt guilty of bringing in her insecurities amidst the moment of joy. Quickly changing the topic, she said, “More than the dress you gifted me on my birthday, I loved your handwritten note about shedding my inhibitions and conquering the world.”

“So did you like the dress?” Atul mumbled. He was upset but he masked his annoyance. He despised when Amaya changed the course of conversation just to uplift his mood. He hated when she did not share her fears comfortably with him.

“Yes", she mumbled. Softly, she murmured, “I did not try it yet".

“Why?” Atul questioned mentally face-palming himself, after all, he had never seen Amaya wherein that pretty maxi dress.

“I... umm... need to lose some weight”, Amaya mumbled still unsure of herself. The image of her chubby legs and belly flashed in front of her eyes and she suddenly felt the urge to run away from her appearance.

“I would look funny, like a maroon sack with fat legs”, she murmured biting her lips remembering the way her ex-boyfriend Vinay used to body-shame her whenever she expressed an urge to wear a knee length dress.

Atul was flabbergasted. He knew Amaya would look gorgeous in that dress. It was designed elegantly to accentuate the curves of a plus-size woman. Moreover, being a normal girl, she did not need to have a model like figure. Her chubby cheeks made her look adorable and her curvy body made her sexier, he wondered.

He had seen the longing in her eyes, when she had seen that dress while they were walking around the busy streets of Connaught Place so he had planned to buy it and gift it on her birthday.

“O! My cupcake, who told you that you would look like a sack?” Atul asked her while she murmured, “Vinay”. She had told him about Vinay and his constant comments on her body after they had got into a relationship and Atul hated that guy who had ruined Amaya’s self-confidence. Atul was thankful to the Almighty that finally Amaya had broken up with Vinay or else, Amaya would have ruined her life.

“He was an asshole. You need to understand that.” Atul spoke irritatingly while Amaya hummed. She loved it whenever Atul hurled abuses at Vinay. It was indeed, a calming therapy for her.

A smile crept on her face when she heard husky voice of Atul slowly speaking to her, “Honey, you would look hot and sexy into it”.

Her cheeks turned pink as she confirmed, “Are you sure I won’t look like a clown?”

“I am cent percent sure that you will look delectable into it”, Atul spoke in a raspy voice and Amaya’s heart fluttered. She loved whenever he appreciated her and these sweet yet, sensual comments sent a chill down her spine. She could feel the heat pooling in her body. Her face glowed with newly found confidence and a beautiful smile adorned her heart-shaped lips.

She hummed blushing hard while Atul coaxed her, “Come on, you are wearing it on our next date”.

Mentally deciding to try the dress immediately after the conversation, Amaya mumbled a small ‘okay’.

The couple discussed about their day while Atul refrained to talk about Riya or the narrow-minded nature of his parents. He wanted to enjoy the moments with the love of his life. As the crepuscular sky turned into darker hues of blue in the moon-lit sky, the couple decided to end the conversation and relish the dinner with their families while their hearts craved to enjoy dinner together in their own home soon after their marriage.
