Tuesday

Like every other dull morning here, I wake up quite early. I don't know why, my body clock is just fucked up, I guess. I don't feel like getting up just yet, so I grab a book from the shelf next to me. I pick 'Holding up the universe' by Jennifer Niven. I have read it already, but it's the only one on the shelf that I want to read.

I lay in bed for about an hour, now 10 o'clock, and I am now bored of the book. My aim for today is to find something fun to do, since my cake didn't go according to plan yesterday. I chuck my book to the side table and hop out of bed, stretching my arms up.

I grab a quick shower like usual and put the same cycling shorts on as yesterday, but with a plain grey hoodie rather than my nirvana top.

Walking in to the living room, I notice that the blanket is folded up and Tom wasn't there. At that moment, I hear a squeaky Viola shouting my name. I rush into the kitchen and she hurries me to sit down at the counter, where I see a plate of fresh pancakes with fruit.

Y: Wow, these look amazing Viola!

V: I'm glad. Took me all morning to prepare so chop chop! Eat up.

I laugh a little to myself at how frantic she was being. She starts washing up as I begin to eat my pancakes. They're so good.

Y: Have you seen Tom this morning?

V: He was out by the fountain with some blonde guy the last time I saw him.

Y: Oh, ok thanks.

I put down my fork to go find him but Viola pushes me back to my seat.

V: Eat first!

Y: Ok. Sorry, sorry.

Placing my plate in the dish washer, I hear a loud bang outside. I follow the strange noise, leading me out by the fountain. I spot Tom with Harrison, both helping some guys carry boxes into the garage.

Y: What's going on?

H: Jesus, er, shit. Tom?

T: Hold this, I'll take her round into the garden.

They are both acting very strange, trying to whisper to each other as the spoke. Not to mention, Harrison about shit himself when I walked out. Tom walks towards me, battling to block my view as I try to peak with nosiness. He takes me by my hand and drags me round to the back garden.

Y: Can you answer my question please? What's happening?

T: We can't say.

Y: What do you mean you can't say?

T: Stop snooping around is all I'll say.

At this moment, butterflies fly in my stomach as I remember that my 21st birthday is in two days. I let go of Tom and squeal into my hands like a child. He stops and turns to look at me, rubbing his temples. He knows that I know now, and he clearly didn't want me to.

T: Fuck's sake Y/N. You weren't meant to know anything.

Y: Well, I don't, I just know what all the secretiveness is about now!

I clap my hands together enthusiastically but he grabs them with his, making me stare at him with a pout at his attempt to ruin my excitement. Although, his intense stare makes me question why he has actually stopped me.

T: I... I have something, for you.

I tilt my head in confusion as he looks down at me with his beautiful brown eyes. He looks, almost, nervous.
