The tall brute pulled Maria aggressively out of the room which she had been held captive, and pushed her into the corridor. The girl tried desperately not to look him in the eyes, but she caught a glimpse of his cold, dull brown eyes. As he glared at her, the girl couldn't help herself but to think of how easily he could snap her neck with one swift movement. She had thought of running away. Her father had his money, he wouldn't be mad at her. Yet, she never had any experience with fighting, it was obvious that the tall man would quickly win against a girl like her. She might be faster, more agile than him, but one mistake, one blow, and he'd crush her. She shivered and pushed those thoughts away. The man tugged on the chains and pulled her toward an exit door. As soon as the girl stepped out, a gush of wind made her hair whip across her face. Maria gasped as the cold autumn air surrounded her and made her shiver. After all, she was only in a sleeveless dress.

In front of Maria was a dark and slick limousine parked at the end of the stairs. The older man from before was leaning against it, smiling, not with a cruel smile like she expected, but a kind and sincere smile. The girl looked briefly around to see if her father was near, but he was nowhere to be seen. She was a little disappointed that he wasn't around to say goodbye. She was his only child, and he might never see her again. Nevertheless, he never had shown me any kindness before, why would he now? Maria sighed. She had gotten her hopes up for nothing.

She hesitantly followed the tall brute down the stairs, looking at this man before her. The girl wasn't quite sure what to think of him. He seemed nice, yet, she didn't trust him.

''You never know who could be a psychopath these days...'' she muttered in her mind.

As soon as the brute unlocked her hands, Maria rubbed her wrists. The old man took a step toward her and held out his hand. She had to admit, even if he was older, perhaps around fifty years old, he still looked handsome in his black suit. The girl hesitated a moment before finally taking his hand. He swiftly opened the car's door for her, as a gentleman would have done. Maria was a little confused at this gesture, she had always thought that gallantry was only in the books, like a fairy-tale. Then again, wasn't Maria technically his slave?

He gently closed the door behind her and walked around the car to take his seat, beside her. The man put one hand on the seat of the driver, and spoke to him in a soft voice.

''You know where to go, John.''

The driver nodded and started the car. He swiftly adjusted the mirror before driving off, away from the black market. Maria watched the building as it grew smaller and smaller. From the outside, it would look like a normal hotel. Men in fancy suits walking out with women in beautiful dresses. The dark side seemed to fade away, to be completely normal. The girl guessed it was that way so that the cops wouldn't see anything odd with this place. Everything was perfectly camouflaged from the unknowing eye.

She looked over suspiciously to the man beside her. The girl really wanted to believe his kind appearance, the smiling image, but what would any good man be doing at a black market, buying slaves. She frowned at the thought and decided that he was not to be trusted, no matter what. Maria slid further away from him, leaning on the door. She tried not to make it too obvious, not to insult him or to anger this man. It still was her first day with him, she wanted to make a good impression of herself, not wanting him to think he wasted money on her. Certainly, it would only make him furious to realise how she was of no use to him. Unfortunately, the old man looked at her, noticing her coward away from him. He frowned and turned toward her.
