The next morning, instead of a harsh wall against her back, Maria was floating on a soft, and fluffy mattress. She was in her room, still in the same state that she had left it in. The girl stared at her wrists, who had been wounded in the dungeon, but now there seemed to have no trace of even a scratch on them. Her hair was clean, even if it was messy from her slumber. The dungeon seemed like a nasty nightmare now. The girl even questioned if it even was real. As she sat up in her bed, the pain in her neck screamed again, and she knew that it was real.
Her door slowly opened, and a blonde peeked through the crack. With a high pitched squeal, she jumped inside of her room, to sit beside her friend. "I'm so glad you're okay!" The blonde screamed as she hugged Maria. Her face turned serious, as she pushed herself away from the girl. "How do you feel?" She asked, with great concern.
"As if I fell from a moving truck..." Maria murmured in a hushed voice. Jenna nodded, and walked to Maria's night table to bring back a glass of water, and some pills.
"Here take these, it will help." Jenna smiled, and reached to her friend's forehead. She put her warm hand on it for a few seconds, and then smiled at Maria. "No more fever. That's great news!" Maria stared at the blonde in confusion. "What fever?"
Maria gulped down the water, and the pills. She had so many questions for her friend, but had no idea where to start.
"They didn't punish you?" Maria asked, a little unsure of how to formulate her words.
"Punish me? Why would they do that?" Jenna asked, frowning at the girl. "You... I thought they..." Maria stumble on her words, but the blonde smiled at her kindly.
"You need to relax; the fever is almost over." She pushed Maria back in the bed, and wrapped the soft blankets on her friend. "Now that you're mentioning it, you were mumbling strange things about me being punished by wolves. Something about a pink river? No... Red river!" Jenna snapped her fingers, and moved away from the bed. Maria was about to speak, but the blonde hushed her, reassuring her that she would be back soon with her breakfast.
"After breakfast, get dressed. Louis wants you to bring him some tea after his meeting.

After they had settled Maria back into her bed, Nicholas, and Louis walked down the hallways of the mansion, the son not too far behind his father. He was still angry at him, that he had locked her up for so long. Even if he had a good reason, it gave him no right to do so. His pack was now furious, even worse, bloodthirsty. They had demanded her head, and even Louis had trouble holding them back. He had tried to control them, but even as an Alpha, it was challenging to hold back an angry group of wolves. Louis then his Maria, telling them that he would fix everything. Now, represents of the pack were waiting outside for their solution.
Two guards opened them the door, and they stepped out to the edge of the front steps. They were all standing there, murmuring about their human situation. As soon as they saw their Alphas, they stood quiet, with harsh, expecting eyes. If their plans would fail, Nicholas would have to deal with Maria, which was something he really didn't want to do. Then, they would have to change territory, which would start a war between neighboring packs, and other who would refuse to budge from their spot. Nicholas glanced at his father, and they both nodded.
"Represents of the Shadow Pack, I, your Alpha and Leader, thank you for traveling to us." He started in a powerful voice. "My son, and I have come to the decision to let the human live." Shocked gasps, and shouts of anger traveled to Louis' ears. He lifted his hands to silence them.
"She has fallen ill, and remembers nothing of what happened." He glanced around the crowd, and continued his speech. "And, if ever she gains her memories, my son shall take care, and see that she is no longer a threat." There was a pause, as the people in front looked at each other in concern.
