It was just before a mission. Skull was supposed to cross-dress as a woman and be Fon's date to a gala. It was a rather simple idea to him. Simply use his flames to make his hair longer and use make-up products to look more feminine. A beautiful, long, dark purple dress that faded into a lighter purple at the bottom. The sleeves hung off his shoulders and a white lace necklace adorned his neck. He stared at himself in the mirror. He looked beautiful, but something felt off. Not necessarily in a bad way, but in a way that made him feel whole. Like something missing was suddenly there, right in front of him. Deciding to ignore the warm feeling, Skull made his way to the front doors where Fon was waiting. He nodded his head towards Skull and smiled. "You look wonderful, Milady." The martial artist lightly joked, giving his friend a calming smile.
'Why... Why did my heart skip a beat when he called me Milady? Ever since I put on this dress, I've been feeling weird.' Fon stretched out his arm, offering his hand to Skull, who took it. The two of them slowly walked out the front doors, through the large front yard filled with flowers of all kinds, and to the simple yet elegant limo waiting for the two. They spent the entire 2o minutes of the drive small talking and discussing the mission. All they had to do was infiltrate the party, which was simple enough with their fake identities, and figure out who is the spy among the Vongola staff.
"So. Is everything alright, Skull. You've been acting strange the entire time. Are you perhaps nervous?" The ever so polite man inquired.
"Ah- I'm fine Fon Senpai! Something had just been bugging my mind since the start of the mission, but I'll be fine." The younger of the two smiled and tried to wave off the elder's concern.
"Skull. Something is clearly bothering you. If you wish not to talk about it, then that is fine. But know that I will always be here for you."

"..."
"Well, Senpai... When I-when I first put on this dress," He gestured to his outfit. "I've had this weird feeling. It's not bad, I don't think, but it's strange and I don't know what it is and it's freaking me out! What should I do Senpai?"
Fon looked surprised at Skull's words, or maybe the fact that the stuntman actually opened up. He took a moment to think before responding. "Well, I am honestly not sure what to respond with. But are you aware if you have ever felt this feeling before? If so, do you remember what made you feel that way?"
It was Skull's moment to think now, trying to remember any times in his past he felt so strange. As he sat there, deep in thought, he remembered something he had long forgotten about.
"Well, when I was in high school, I had to play the lead female role. I of course had to wear a dress, and I felt something similar, but not as strong. Same with when my younger sister would play dress up and make me into a princess or something." Skull couldn't help but chuckle at the memories of his past.
"Skull... Have you ever felt uncomfortable when referred to as male? Or felt happy when referred to as female?" Fon was careful with his words and phrasing, not wanting to upset or confuse his friend.
Once again Skull was contemplating Fon's words. 'I've honestly never thought about it, but... Now that I'm thinking about it, I never liked being referred to as male. And I've always been uncomfortable with my body... Geez. Why is Fon Senpai so smart...'
"Yeah. I have. But what does that mean exactly...?" The younger tilted his head to the side and curiosity lit up in his eyes.
"Well..." Fon started, unsure of how to explain this to Skull. "It could mean that you might be transgender, which means you identify as a gender other than the one you were born with. Similar as to how Viper is non-binary, meaning they don't identify as a specific gender."
"So- You think that I might not have been born the right gender? Then how come I have never noticed before."
"Well, it wasn't all that common during the time that you would have been a child or teenager, so you might have always felt that way and was just never able to place or associate the feeling with being transgender. If you are, that is. It's just a theory."
'A game theory.' "But yeah, I think you might be right Fon. Now that I have actually thought about it, I have never been comfortable with being referred to as male.. When you called me 'Milady' earlier, it just felt right. So thank you. You're a really good friend, Fon Senpai!" He smiled a blinding grin and hugged the man he was thankful for, who hugged right back.
"No problem. Um- Do you still want to be referred to as Skull or-?"
"My birth name was Cherep, which is Russian for Skull. But I think that Irina sounds nice. It was my grandmother's name."
"Well then, Irina. Shall we complete this mission?" Fon once again gave Irina his hand, which she took gratefully and they walked together and completed the mission, just as planned.
Omake:
"So. How did the mission go?" Reborn asked the pair as they returned.
Skull smiled nervously. "Well, Senpai, Fon helped me realize something about myself..." He trailed off. Not sure how to come out to them.
"Mou. I think I know." Viper floated forward slightly.
"Care to share?" The hitman was clearly annoyed at not knowing something.
Viper turned towards the clouds direction, silently asking for their permission to speak.
"Yeah... Go ahead, Viper." Skull, now Irina nodded her head.
"I believe that our cloud has had a change of gender identify. I was acting just like this when I can out as non-binary for the first time."
"Yeah... I realized that I am a woman, not a man. And I prefer to be called Irina from now on, please."
"I'm glad the mission went well then, Irina."
With those words, everyone huddled together and cuddled for the rest of the night. Not that they would ever admit it in the morning.
I hope you enjoyed this chapter! I will try updating once in a while.
I chose the name Irina since it's Russian.
