It was a scary thought at first. He has known them for a little over three decades, and he has yet to share his most guarded secret. It wasn't that he didn't think they would accept him, he knew they would, but coming out was always a little scary. At least he had Viper on his side. It was easier for Skull to come out to someone he could relate to, which is why they were the first he told out of the Arcobaleno. It had been shortly before the curse happened, on a bright sunny day with a gentle breeze rustling the leaves on the trees in the garden.
"Mou. Why did you bring me out here? Time is money, so I better be getting paid for this." True to what they first appeared to be, Viper always wanted to be paid for almost anything having to do with them. Skull knew there was more to them than being greedy. He didn't have any proof exactly, but he could feel it in his gut. And Skull's gut was never once wrong, so it wouldn't be wise to underestimate him. We're looking at you Reborn.
"You're non-binary, right?" Skull spoke carefully, not wanting to upset his comrade if his assumptions were wrong. Viper did not seem to take offence to his statement so he took that as a win.
"Was that your reason for this meeting? To ask me a silly question that I obviously would not give away for free. What do you even gain from such a question?" Despite the harsh wording, Viper was truly curious about Skulls question. 'Why did he ask that question? How did he even figure out?' Continuous questions like those rung in Viper's head.
"Well, I guess that was part of it. I know that it probably seems stupid, I know you probably won't confirm what you identify as for free, but you don't need to. I've already decided to come out to you!" The statement started off a little uncertain, but confidence quickly seeped into his words.
"Come out?" The mist user asked slowly, surprised by the clouds words. "What do you mean by that?" They continued asking.
'I'll just say it. There is no use beating around the bush.' Skull thought in his head, before he took action. "I'm trans. I was born in the body of a female, but I am male. I didn't realize it until I was around 20. I had just started my carrier as a stuntman, or stuntwoman, as I was back then. I tried hard to get my name out there, to become well known. But it proved to be more difficult than I first thought. Just because I was a woman, most people did not take me seriously. So I made what seemed to be the most logical decision, since there was no way I would become anything else unless there was no other choice. So I started appearing as male. I got new clothes, like binders to hide my female appearance, new makeup to make my face more masculine. You get the point.
I tried again, as a guy this time. Needless to say I was alot more successful than before. It was disappointing really. But I made do, and quickly realized that being "Skull De-Mort, Immortal Stuntman of Death" made me feel much more happy and felt more natural. It didn't take to long to realize that I wasn't happy as a girl. That I wasn't happy with the body and gender I was born with. So I made the switch. It was only shortly before meeting you all that I fully healed from the surgery. It felt nice to introduce myself to you and everyone else. To be a man in both mind and body. I know that even though you had no idea I was born female, the fact that all of you referred to me as male made me so happy. So thank you for that, Viper."
Skull's words stunned Viper. For once, they had no idea what to say.
Sorry for the late update. This month has been a bit hectic, but I actually sat down and wrote this out today. I know it's a little short, but I think it turned out okay.
If you want to see a part two with Skull telling the others, let me know.
