Chapter Five
As we were spit out of our portal and into our new destination I soon realized what Corin had meant. Opening my eyes I saw we were in a cemetery. We had stopped right in front of a tombstone. I read what it had engraved on it.
" Randell Jacob Alford,
Son, brother, father, loved one.
May the trials and temptations
you have had on this earth, prepare
you for your kingdom in heaven."
I looked at the bottom of the stone. There were many pictures of him with friends and family, there was even a picture of his son. But the pictures that stood out the most were the pictures of him and Corin. There were many of them together. They were smiling, and laughing While he had his arms wrapped around her, she had the biggest grin on her face and he was looking at her with a grin that matched hers if not bigger. I looked to the picture next to that. I remembered this one. Their first kiss. I remember how she had spent weeks upon weeks planning it. How everything just had to be perfect. And it was, the picture was a living image to prove it. They looked like they were from an old romance movie. How could I've forgotten about him. About how he died, and how hard Corin took it. It all made sense now. The huge crazy storms that came. How on his funeral day it was a lovely beautiful day and Corin was no where insight, but the second she was a storm came and lightening crackled as he was being lowered into the ground. I looked over at Corin. Who had somehow shut off the motorcycle, gotten off and was standing over his grave. I swung my leg over and slid off. I walked over to her. She had her hands to her side, fists clenched tight. I could hear as her teeth gritted against each other. I placed my hand on her shoulder and softly said
"Corin.."
Slowly she looked up at me. Her eyes filled with tears.
"You see what I meant now.. By my heart is dead."
She looked up to the sky before continuing
"He was my world. My pride, my joy, My life. I gave him my heart..."
Corin's voice broke offf. She tried to regain herself.
"But that still wasn't enough to keep him alive."
Her tears had won the battle and were streaming down her face. Yet there was no storm.
"Corin don't cry, your going to cause a storm."
I tried to say this in the nicest way I could. She looked at me
"There is no storm. I have no emotions.. The only thing I feel is empty. The tears are from my human side. I should of know better any ways than to love a human.."
Her voice trailed off as she fell to the ground. I looked back up at the sky it was growing dark and gray. I looked back at her.
"Corin."
I watched as her eyes lifted up to the pictures of them. As her shaking hand rose and grabbed for the photo of their first kiss. The wind started picking up. I looked around every where else the weather seemed calm and still, but over us there was nothing but chaos. I could feel her pain through the wind. Feel as her heart broke with every crack of lightening. And as every rain drop fell to the earth I felt every tear she had cried for him.
