Thirteen

Katie smiled as she woke up. Her bump was showing more and Edward loved every minute of it as he was going to raise this baby as his own. They have a list of names and two of those names is Katie's dad and Edward's father. "Katie, are you ready because Edward is out there waiting." Jessica said.

"Yeah." She says. "Jess." Jessica looked at her. "You can find someone better than Mike if he continues to break your heart."

"Thank you." She says. "How about you and Edward?"

"Everything is going good. He said something about his family planning on leaving, but he was staying behind for me and the baby. Something he doesn't want to miss out on." She tells her. "I'm putting Edward's name on the birth certificate."

"That's amazing." She says as she handed a letter to Katie. "It was in the mail."

Katie watched her cousin walk out causing her to read the letter. She froze at what she was seeing. Her father was actually alive. Jessica turned to see Katie fainted. "Katie!"

At the hospital, Edward was worried sick about his mate and child. He sat with Katie's family. Carlisle walked in causing them to look at her. "We may be taking the baby early." He tells them. "When she fainted, she fell hard."

"Katie has three more months." Her aunt says. "Is the baby and my niece going to be alright?"

"We don't know till she has the baby." He looked at Edward who was taking this all in. "Son, I know you stepped up to be the father. It's your call."

"I can't lose my girlfriend and the baby." He says. "Do what you have to do to save them. Please."

Carlisle could tell Edward was broken from this, but he wondered what caused her to faint. It wasn't the baby or anything else, but he knew that they will have to ask her what happened. "Jessica?" She looked up at the doctor. "Do you know what caused her to faint?"

"This letter that's addressed to Katie." She says. "I didn't read it."

Edward took the letter and was shocked. "Her father is alive."

"What?" Jessica's dad said taking the letter from Edward to read it. "If I see him, he will be wishing he was dead. His own fucking daughter is going through so much that he decides to send an 'I'm alive' letter! My niece is having her baby early and none of us knows if both of them is going to make it all because of my brother!"

"Honey, calm down."

"I'll be calm the moment my niece and her child are okay."

Edward looked at the family. "Why don't you three go home and rest. I'll be here with her and will let you know what is said."

"Thank you, Edward."

Jessica walked over to him. "Promise me to never break her heart. She really loves you."

"And I love her. I will never break her heart. I'm sure I'll kill myself before I do." He says. "I'm going to ask her, but for now, too many surprises isn't good for her."

Jessica smiled. "Mom has the perfect ring." She tells him. "Thank you for loving my cousin."

"You'll find someone, Jess. Just give him time."

Jessica nodded as she left. Edward sighed as he walked to the room with his pregnant mate in it. He touched her face with a smile. "I'm here, baby. I'll always be right here for you."

"They're preparing the O.R." Carlisle tells him. "What's your plan?"

"Don't let them die. Turn Katie if you have too. I can't lose them both." He says. "After her and the baby are healthy, we're searching for her father.'

"We will help."

Edward nodded as he knew that this day was coming. For now, he had to focus on his mate and child then Tommy Stanley. Where ever the hell he's at.
