His Next Victim

Chapter 6

Cain's POV

Jude, Alex, Jeff and I all had various cleaning supplies in our hands. We all looked like a bunch of French maids with our cute little aprons, mops, rags, and spray bottles. I was currently spraying bleach on the lunch I lost earlier today.

"I still can't believe he threw up," Jeff snickered.

"I know, man. At least we don't have to worry about Jade getting attached now. You know she likes strong men," said Alex.

"I just hope I don't get in trouble," Jude pouted while mopping up blood. Seeing him pout was comical, but when I found out he was worried about his mother the humor tripled. I mean the guy had a twenty-three year old daughter of his own and he was still worried about what his mom was going to do.

I then remembered what Alex said. Would she really not like me after I barfed on her stove? I know she looked furious, but I could buy her another one. Well I think I could buy her another one, it all just matters how much she decided to take out of my bank account.

About another hour later, the kitchen was relatively clean. I toke off my apron, and tossed it onto a chair. I looked down at my shoes and grimaced at the blood stains on them. Luckily all I had to do was wipe them off. I slipped them off and put them in the corner while yawning. Today had been a very long very eventful day.

My stomach started to growl, I guess its food then sleep. I was about to make my way to the fridge, when Jade and Carter walked in. I gave her a bright smile; she just blinked confusingly at me. I'm guessing I should probably tone it down a little.

Carter chuckled. "Aw, look your puppy is happy to see you."

I glared at him as Jade smacked him in the stomach. "Play nice or go home," she said moodily.

"Come on, baby. I was just kidding, you know you love me," he flashed her perfect white teeth.

She just sighed and shook her head at him in exasperation. "I'm making some food. Does anybody want anything?"

Carter glanced at the stove before shaking his head no. Ha, not so tough is he? "I'm starved," I told her while smirking at Carter.

He seemed to take this as some sort of challenge and turned towards Jade. "I changed my mind. I would love something to eat. Do you need help?"

Suck-up. "No thanks, I'm okay. You two just go watch TV or something while I cook," she replied.

We both glanced at her before I followed Carter to where I'm guessing the living room was. I walked into the room and my eyes widened at the sight before me. This wasn't a living room, it's a man cave. She had various game systems, surround sound, and a huge television. Theatre style recliners were settled in the middle of the room.

"Impressive huh?"

"Definitely. Why does she have this room?" I asked Carter.

"For her guy friends. I don't know if you haven't noticed, but she doesn't hang out with too many girls. The only friends she has are Alex and Jeff."

"What about you?"

He smirked at me smugly. "I think me and you both know that were more than friends."

"Oh, so your friends with benefits. A no-strings type thing."

He glared at me. "Look, let's get one thing straight. I love her; I have for a while now. I know she feels the same way, but she's just afraid to admit it. I'm letting you stay here simply because you can help keep her safe. Make a move on her, and I'll chop your balls off."

With that, he turned and clicked on the TV. Shifting further away from him, I looked down at my buddies. 'Sorry', I mentally told them, because I was going to put them at risk to get what I wanted.

Nolan's POV

I watched her through her window. For being such a smart girl, she sure was stupid. She knew somebody was after her, but there she stood in all her glory out in the open for anybody to see.

And see is what I did. I looked at her while she changed her clothes, her body was magnificent. I zoomed my scope in more to see her facial features. They were perfect too.

She was a good opponent. She had managed to kill the men I sent to her, she even figured out the bomb. I couldn't help but admire her. She was a perfect woman. I needed to take her out though, she knew too much about me.

I looked at her once more, and decided I couldn't kill her yet. No, I would just play with her a little longer, and then maybe just maybe I could keep her instead of killing her. Yes, I think Jade Romano would be the perfect partner.
