Despite my desperate need for oxygen, I couldn't release a single breath.

Theo's brother, the guy Theo warned me to avoid, was standing right in front of me, heavily breathing. Holy shit. What do I even do right now?

We stared back at one another with a focused gaze, only mine carried a look of shook and his, well, I wasn't quite sure.

I couldn't see his hair but I could see enough features to notice the resemblance between him and Theo.

Samuel looked more like his dad though, with a sharper nose and deeper, narrowed eyes, he appeared more rough and rugged. Maybe it was the stubble or the physical maturity in his features, he was older than us after all.

Despite the fact that Theo had more of a smoother complexion than an edged one, there was a notable difference in their eyes. Theo's eyes were somehow colder, a harsher stare than his brother's which I found surprising.

Especially considering the hostile reputation that existed towards Samuel, you'd think he'd have more of an intimidating look to him.

They both definitely hit the genetic lottery though! No denying that.

I didn't know what to say as he stared down at me. Thankfully, I didn't have to since he slightly smiled, amused, and said, "Cora, isn't it?"

I nodded my head, pressing my lips together.

While Samuel did have a nice smile, I still liked Theo's more... Maybe because it was rare to see.

Either way, there was something both soft and devilish about Theo's smile that I just couldn't resist staring at.  What can I say, I'm whipped... Now that's just sad.

"You're awfully quiet for someone who was egging on these two dick heads a minute ago." He gestured to them with a lazy head nod.

"Just surprised," I blinked, sitting more upright. "I didn't expect any of this to happen in a grocery store."

"You say that like you expect these things to happen otherwise?" He tilted his head.

My eyes narrowed, a thinking expression falling onto my face. "At this rate..." It was becoming a normal occurrence.

He only raised his eyebrows at me. "Interesting. Also, you are welcome. I pretty much saved you." I see Theo isn't the only cocky one. Clearly runs in the family.

"Mhm," My eyes slid to Jeremy and Jordan's knocked out figures, lying there... In obvious pain. Ha, suck shit. "Thanks."

"Anything for my little brother's mate. How is he?" he crinkled his nose, "Still brooding and cold?"

"You could say that," I swallowed my saliva, my stare falling back on him. "Not that I should be talking to you, after all, you were exiled from the pack."

"Oh," he sighed sadly before smirking. "Did daddy alpha get into your ear about me?"

"You mean your daddy. He's certainly not mine."

He licked his bottom lip. "God, you must give my brother hell. I'd love to see it." He is right and as much as I wanted to boast about the shit I've done to Theo, I don't think he needed to know. I had to remember Theo didn't trust his brother for a reason.

Yet, I didn't get bad vibes.

"Something like that, yeah."

Having Samuel right in front of me, I wanted to quiz him like I was an alien ready to probe a human. Fortunately for Theo's sake, this interaction had to come to an end.
