"They're getting married in two weeks."

I stood back in shock.

What the... "Your dad and Amber?"

"Yes."

I shook my head in disbelief.

That's so... sudden. "Unbelievable." I muttered, still struggling to wrap my head around it all.

How sick and disgusting can you be to marry the girl who was dating your son? What a dick. How vile can you be to chase after the father of your at-the-time boyfriend? Absolute bitch.

"Tell me about it," Theo scoffed, glancing towards the empty street and it's quiet neighbouring houses.

He had decided to come over and pay me a visit. So we stood, in my front yard, him sitting on the boot of his car while I stood on the edge of the curb, one foot on the grass, the other on concrete.

The sky was still grey and gloomy, which was strange considering it was nearing Autumn. At least it wasn't raining as it did yesterday, where I was in the woods conversing with Samuel...

I still can't believe it.

I wanted to desperately tell Theo about that encounter but If I did, he'd have me tied up in his room never to leave his sight again... though I wouldn't mind, I needed my space and freedom too. Plus, the last (and main) thing I would want to risk is telling Theo about it, having him get angry as he would, then jeopardise his safety by marching over to Samuel's hide out.

I wasn't so certain about trusting Theo's dad before, but after the way Samuel lied about that ring... to what, try and lure me back there with him? I couldn't not trust his dad's words now. I had clear reason to not trust Samuel, the way he lied, the things he said... He was willing to hurt Theo if it meant he got victory for what... becoming Alpha? Vengeance... I still felt so answer-less.

Either way, as much as I didn't want to trust what Lance had told me about Samuel, It seemed that he was right. That Samuel really was a threat.

Yet...

"Don't stress, Cora." Theo interrupted my world of thoughts. I shot him a tight smile, letting him grab me by the arm and bring me in-between him where he sat. His legs on either side of me, he edged closer on the boot of the car so he could wrap his arms around me. Hand on the back of my hair, he added, "They won't be in our lives forever."

I smiled against his warm chest. "I know. It's just weird that they're so quick to marry... Doesn't that mean she'll be Luna?"

"Yes." After a second of silence, "I know what you're thinking and I'm thinking the same thing. She's after the title and fame."

"Mhm. Snake."

"I could think of a lot worse things to call her," He said, making me chuckle. I pulled my head back, staring up at him. His hands landed on my shoulders, one cupping my face and neck. "My father aims to retire and hang up the title eventually though, so it's a short lived moment for her. That's probably why they're rushing this thing. Enjoy it while they have it."

"Yeah, I guess... And with the threat of Samuel around... you think that could have something to do with it?"

"Definitely," Theo furrowed his brows, once again glancing away into the distance. "It's weird. Samuel didn't strike me as someone that cared about title or status..."

Yet, according to Lance, Samuel did. Hence why he kicked his own son out to protect Theo... I could see that thirst for victory even with what he said yesterday... Guilt started to eat at me as I studied Theo's face. That beautiful distant gaze lost in thought, the slight biting of the corner of his lips...
