Hearing Alpha Lance's car drive off down the street, I stood in my hallway, lost in my own mind. Feeling strange, I shook my head at my train of thoughts.

Samuel wanted to kill his own brother? Stab Theo to death? Over envy? It just didn't seem right.

Surely, Theo should know just how deranged his own brother is, if he had such ill intention as killing him. Why would his dad hide that? He was cold to Theo so Theo could become strong, so wouldn't Theo be strong enough to handle such news?

Looking for cracks in Alpha Lance's story, I couldn't help but also believe him. Envy is a powerful thing.

The burning jealousy that fuels rage like untamed gas is a dangerous motivation, making people go to great lengths to mimic, hurt or destroy what's stirring the toxic emotion. Even if that 'what' is a 'who', especially with family. So, it makes sense for that to be the motive behind Samuel's behaviour.

It was just... It conflicted with everything that I thought. All my past judgement on Lance, Samuel... Amber... Nah, she was still a bitch either way.

Heading up the stairs, I entered my room, feet hitting the clothes decorating my floor. I walked over the mess, peeling my jacket off as my eyes landed on my bedroom window. It was still a heavy shower outside, a crackle of thunder making an appearance. Dropping my pants to the ground, I crawled into bed, feeling the soft touch of my sheets and blanket against my prickly legs. I really needed to shave them but oh well. That's what pants are for.

What do I do?

I can't tell Theo... I can't investigate Samuel in fear it is true and he is so evil enough to do such a thing.

Pressing my face into my pillow, I sighed.

Why does this all have to be so complicated? What happened to the good ol' times where my biggest problem was fighting with Theo and worrying about getting in trouble over not doing my home-work?

I should've asked Lance more questions.

How can I know he's being honest?

I don't.

My phone started to ring.

Not even bothering to check who was calling, I turned my head, half my face pressing into my pillow as a muffled "Hello" came out of my mouth.

"Cora," Hearing Theo's voice had me sitting up on my bed.

"Theo."

"Hey. What are you doing?"

"I'm just sitting on my bed," I said, adjusting myself so my back was pressed against my headboard. "Doing nothing." My feet kicked the chips that I lazily dropped on the end of my bed, making a crinkling noise that reminded me they were there. "What bout' you?"

"Just got home," He said. I could hear his movement in the background, a door closing.

"From where?" I asked, trying to use my feet to bring the packet of corn chips closer to me. I scoffed as they managed to fall off my mattress instead, hitting the floor. Typical.

"I went out for a run."

"Did you get caught in the rain?"

"I did," I could imagine him shaking his wet hair, his shirt clinging to his chest... I smiled to myself.

"Unlucky."

"Mhm. I'm going to go have a shower."

"Don't think of me too much," I bit my lip, grinning at my own comment. I amuse myself.
