Chapter twelve

-

Where could Nelson possibly be? Leaving our state Oregon to head off to Idaho? Avoiding school all together? I huffed. Unfortunately, I still haven't caught sight of Nelson since yesterday's ordeal. It did have me worried. Was he even here at school today? Hopefully he was.

As I sat down at our usual cafeteria table, I stuck my tongue at Felix since I stole his spot, meaning I was facing the busy section of the cafeteria and not just a blank wall and window. Wasn't such a bad view.

I glanced past his shoulder and froze, my tongue still hanging out my mouth like I was a dog trying to cool down in summer's heat.

I take back my earlier statement. Wasn't such a bad view? Ha! What nonsense, but I was too stubborn to switch seats now.

Even if this was awkward...Very awkward.

Theo was staring at me, his eyes unblinking. I immediately retracted my tongue, aware his heavy stare fell on my mouth and watched the movement.

Good lord.

I fidgeted in my spot. His stare slowly flicked back up to my eyes. Why was he staring at me without a glare? It was an important question to ask. Him not glaring from a distance, simply staring? Crazy. Insane. Odd. Was this karma for being a seat thief?

Fortunately, Felix's quiet snort interrupted and distracted me from those dark brown eyes.

"They look like they were run over."

I couldn't help but laugh in surprise, glancing at Felix who was staring to the right of him, over in the direction of the cafeteria doors. "Who?" I followed his gaze and my eyes widened.

Jordan and Jeremy.

"Yeah, run over by a tractor."

Both the "lovely" gents had dark purple bruises circling their eyes. They looked worse than before. Jordan's pudgy nose was swollen while Jeremy wore a sharp cut on his lip. One girl even screeched at the sight of them.

A smile met my lips. Call me evil, actually no, call me Theo but I felt no remorse for them.

In fact, right now I need my imaginary evil cat ASAP and a rotating chair! I just want to loudly 'mwaha' so badly but I'll refrain myself.

They sheepishly held their heads down and rushed to their table and seat. It's not so nice feeling attacked by others, is it? The two bozos deserved it for the way they belittled Nelson.

My eyes swept the crowd, landing on Theo. Interesting. He was staring away from me, eyes downcast to the right corner of his table but a devilish smirk played on his lips. A smirk that had me raising my eyebrows.

Holy moly.

You know that specific blink hot, seductive people do? It's not the fluttering of spiderweb eyelashes look girls usually pulled off to be all innocent and cute, no, this was a sultry thing! Like... that thing where a person blinks and their eyes immediately flick up in your direction?

Okay... so... he basically blinked and slid his stare towards me. It's not a big deal and yet, it had me flinching at the heat of his darkened gaze, my lips parting and my stare immediately fleeing away from his.

Why did I react like that?

Oh my Luna, my heartbeat was going mad. All because of the way he looked at me. How pathetic. I'm a strange, sick little wolf, but it was an intense look! Not intense in the sense that we're arguing and he wants to rip me apart in a fit of rage, but intense in the sense that the only thing he'll be ripping apart are my clothes.
