Rain pouring down on the roof of a black car. Grass matted down on top of the ground, pressured down by the water. He could hear screaming somewhere in the distance, but didn't know where or who. He stepped out of the car, his hair immediately getting soaked. His shoes sunk down half an inch in the mud, but he ignored it. Then, he heard the screaming again, and walked forward. It got louder. Then, he started to run. He came to a house, a big, old, black worn out house, that looked haunted. He stepped up to the door as it fell backwards, dust rising from the floor. He walked inside, the screaming rung in his ears, as he walked down a hallway and up a flight of stairs. A light shined from a room, the door just partially opened. The screaming stopped, and he opened the door. It creaked as it was pushed open. He walked into a light pink worn out room. A young girl sat on the bed, staring out a window. The screaming echoed through the room, but it wasn't from her. He walked around the bed and in front of the girl. She looked up at her, her face blurred out.
"Oh hello there.. Why have you come here?" She spoke, almost whispering
The man didn't speak. Just looked at the girl, she was familiar, in a strange way.
"I'm not sure why I'm here. But hello anyway," He answered, sitting on the bed. "What are you looking at?
"Just the ghosts.. they visit me sometimes." She didn't look at the man, just at the window. "Have you ever spoken to the ghosts?" She tilted her head
"Well, no, I haven't. I didn't know they existed," The man rubs his wrist, nervous
"Oh.. I guess I'm the only one who can see them. They usually just hang around, in the corners of my room. They just stay there. They don't talk much. And every so often, they get replaced with new ghosts. Like tomorrow, one of them should be replaced tomorrow. Because someone that I used to know will pass away tomorrow." She paused, "It's peculiar. I never know who they are, but I recognize them. And I somehow know when a new one will arrive."
The man didn't speak, he just looked at the girl. Finally, she looked at him, her face still blurry, but her eyes glowing white.
"You could never become a ghost could you..? How would it feel, knowing you could never love anyone because they would leave. Because they would die and move on to a different life. And that you could never see them again because you cannot be killed." She stared at the man, thinking. "A couple hours. That's all they have left.. until someone new comes..." She looked back at the window. "You should meet me. I know you, but you don't seem to remember me. It's sad, we were so close before. I would like to see you again, but for now, I'll just have to be accompanied by the
ghosts, and the voices in my head." She looked at the man again, and he could see her smile. "Well, goodbye for now. I'm sorry you couldn't stay longer, but... don't forget this."
The girl disappeared, and the room evaporated. And everything went dark
~~*~~*~~*~~
George woke up cold. Freezing in fact. His room was very dark, and he could barely see. He turned on a lamp, and the room glowed yellow-ish orange. He swooped his legs off of the bed and stood up, grabbing his phone and checking the time. 4:54, shit. George took a couple breaths, annoyed at his body weir choosing to wake up this early.
He walked to his closet and grabbed faded grey jeans and a blue t-shirt. He combed through his hair and quietly walked downstairs. He walked through the kitchen and outside. The sun was just rising, and the air was cool and clean. George stepped onto the grass, his feet instantly getting wet from the morning dew.
"Couldn't sleep?" George turned around, almost falling
"Huh- Oh. No, I slept fine, my dumb self just decided to get up at 4:54 in the morning." George laughed a little, not completely realizing it was Dream who was talking to him
"Mm. Yeah, I couldn't sleep. My mind was just running in circles." Dream walked onto the grass next to George.
"Sorry..." George looked at him, now fully aware it was a tall blonde boy standing next to him
"No, it's ok. My sleep schedule is fucked anyway." He laughed
"Well, did you get any sleep at all?" George asked, sitting down on the foot high patio.
"I mean, a little. I fell asleep for like a solid 2 ½ hours." Dream sat next to George
"Only 2 hours!? What the hell?" Dream laughed
"And a half! Plus, that's what I usually get for sleep." George's mouth gaped open.
"How do you function!?" Dream laughed again and shook his head
"Gracefully. Anyway, what made you wake up?" George sighed
"Well, I had a weird dream. And I woke up freezing cold-" Dream grabbed George's hand. "What are you doing?"
"Warming you up. You said you were freezing." Dream inched closer to George. George's face went pink, and he was thankful for the darkness that covered his blush.
"Oh- ok. Thanks." He smiled. Dream yawned.
"See! You need sleep!" George laughed, Dream picked up George's hand
"And you need to stop sleeping in a fridge!" George laughed harder, his head falling on Dream's shoulder.
Then, a scream. George immediately picked up his head and turned to the house. He recognized the scream, the person from his dream. Dream noticed George's anxiety and ran inside, pulling George along. Upstairs to the guest room. All of the lights were on, and when they walked in, Sapnap was lying on the floor, face down. Minx was crouched over him, tears forming in her eyes
"What happened?" Dream worriedly asked.
"I- I don't know, I just woke up, and, and he was on the floor, so I got scared." Minx's hands shook. Bad toppled out of bed, seeing Sapnap.
'What the- Sapnap!" Bad rushed over.
"This can't be happening.. no," Minx turned Sapnap over. His eyes were closed, and his face was pretty pale. Bad's eyes started watering
"No... But... this should be possible..." Bad hugged Sapnap. "No.." His voice was whining and tears started dropping down his cheeks
"How did this even happen? I- but..." George stuttered. Then, he remembered something. "Bad! Did he ever tell you his Death day?"
Bad nodded, "Yeah.. It's not his day yet.. but then... what's wrong?"
"Do you know CPR? He could be pale because he stopped breathing." Bad nodded vigorously
"THEN DO IT YOU MORON!!" Minx yelled, Bad cried harder, but started doing CPR on Sapnap
"What if he doesn't... doesn't make it?" Dream looked at Bad. Bad was crying, giving his best friend CPR, and trying to talk at the same time.
"I'm sure he will... he can't not... it's impossible.. right?" Dream's voice wavered. "Right..?"
Bad continued to give Sapnap CPR, until he could barely breathe from crying. He tried one more time, as a voice echoed in George's head.
"A couple hours... that's all they have left" The girl had said.
Time slowed, as Bad toppled over on the floor, hugging his chest crying. Then, after a couple seconds, a cough. Bad sat up, Sapnap rolled on the floor, coughing. Bad smothered him in a hug instantly. Minx hugged him as well, and then Dream and George.
"Don't do that ever again, you idiot!" Minx scolded between tears, Sap stifled a laugh
"I guess Death couldn't resist someone as hot as me." They all laughed. Well, half-laughed.
"Hmm, guess I'll have to wait a bit longer. I was incorrect. Strange." The girl's voice said in George's head. He had to find that girl, whoever.. wherever... or whatever she was.
