"Alright everyone, can we all please settle down and try to figure this out?" Binah said, obviously taking charge in this matter as Government-keeper. Starley was outside as they spoke and they had to make this quick.
"She's a healer," Liliana said, supporting Binah in her decision. Purposely they had left Walter out of the vote as they all knew he would vote for his own daughter on the council.
"It would be nice to have someone with such a rare talent combination such as hers on our city's Government once again," Whitney agreed.
"But isn't she a little young for the job, she's only just sixteen," Lucas disagreed and Cameron nodded to him in agreement. Then Binah took over the conversation again.
"At the end, it will all come down to the vote. I'm just saying that she might want to work in her mother's steps. They have the same talents and their personalities are so similar. Piper? Walter? You agree?" The two members addressed nodded.
"Yes, they are so similar. And had Starley been older when Sandy passed away, she might've been straight onto the Government then anyway, depending on the sister," Piper commented.
"In the end it's up to her," said Binah, taking charge once again, "but whether we give her the choice is up to us."
Liliana raised her hand and began to talk. "Binah, I think this is a wonderful idea. But as you said it's up to her and we cannot control her. However, if she travels in Sandy's footsteps that leaves the sister fated to follow Walter. How will she feel about that?"
"We cannot control the rules of our own Government," Rhylee answered. "We just have to hope that Starley considers the consequences of the others she loves before she takes the job, if it is given to her."
"Knowing Starley and Sandy, I think she will. She knows how tough the Scout-keeper job can be and how many tasks she will take on. As you said, Binah, it's up to her," Hailey added.
"Okay, final vote," Binah said, her eyes wandering around the table at her eight colleagues. "Those for asking Starley Star-Bub to join us as our Scout-keeper."
She raised her own hand and waited to see how many other people were on board with the idea. Slowly everyone around the circle, minus Lucas, Cameron and of course Walter, raised their hands as well.
"Liliana, you may let her in now," said Binah, lowering her arm and watching her colleagues do the same. She noticed Lucas and Cameron's upset glances between each other and tried to control her own happiness. Liliana stood up and any noise that was in the room instantly stopped as soon as the door clicked open and she said, "they're ready for you now."
Then Starley stepped through the doorway after her.
