CHAPTER TWENTY SIX
February 2173
Rebecca's Starship / Trachus
...Rebecca's Starship...
They were twelve days into their journey home. And, with nothing else to do except eat, sleep, make love and look after Tanya, they had come to know each others bodies very well. Neil was quite happy with his situation. He had Rebecca, who he was rapidly falling in love with, and Tanya - the two most important girls in his life. Sex was exciting with Rebecca. He didn't have to worry about her getting pregnant as she was using 'the pill' because of the coming war.
They were sleeping. Neil was cuddled up to Rebecca with one arm draped over her body. Rebecca started moving in her sleep and Neil's arm fell off her. He turned onto his back - undisturbed. Rebecca's movement became more frantic until she suddenly sat up as her eyes flew open. She quickly looked left and right in a mild panic causing her hair to thrash wildly from side to side.
Sorry to wake you Rebecca but time is short, said a voice in her head.
God damn it, she thought. She yawned then pulled the blanket up to cover her breasts - remembering that they could see through her eyes, What's wrong?
We are almost cut off and will not be able to help you. I need you to listen.
Okay I'm listening, thought Rebecca.
Civil war will break out on several planets soon. Zeb' Zeptre's plans are ready to go. You must find and train the recruits as soon as possible.
Hang on. About that. I don't have the first clue how...
The Watcher interrupted Rebecca, Please do not interrupt. I barely have enough time to send you this message. You know everything you need to know to train them. At all costs you and your recruits need to remain hidden from Zeb' Zeptre's view. He will not hesitate to use overwhelming force to destroy you. We have managed to send out supplies to the pre-arranged point near our planet. Good luck Rebecca. Remember what you have learned and keep practising. We will try to reverse what has been done to our defences but until then you are on your own.
The link between them disappeared. Rebecca tried to reach out to them but, without Varso's special micro-bots boosting the signal she couldn't manage it. She had broken out in a cold sweat and started shivering.
"What's up Rebecca?" asked Neil.
She looked at him, "Oh - sorry to wake you Neil."
"What's wrong," he repeated as he touched her arm.
Rebecca closed her eyes and sighed, "The Watchers just contacted me. It's happened."
"What's happened?"
She opened her eyes again, "I'm cut off from the Watchers Neil. I no longer have their protection."
"You don't need their protection any more."
"It's not just that. What if ... what if I succumb to the addictive power I've learnt and start to do bad things."
Neil held Rebecca's shoulders in each hand, "Have faith in yourself Rebecca. I do. I believe in you. You can do it. You can face him and defeat him." Neil pulled her into his loving embrace.
"I love you Neil."
"Love you too."
They parted and Neil lay back down, "You going back to sleep?"
