It was so dark it was almost suffocating. he pressed his own lighter colored wings closer to his back, praying to whatever god that they couldn't be seen underneath his brother's wings. Tommy was shivering in the cold.

"where are they?" Grian muttered, the raven's voice so quiet Tommy wasn't sure he was supposed to hear it, although he had begun to wonder the same thing himself, the rest of the flock, a hummingbird and a dove, to give the single that they were there, and ready to leave. Grian pressed his wings closer to Tommy, his darker wings some shield against the inky darkness of the night.

Minutes passed, soon turning to hours, and the first light of dawn was breaking out over the horizon. They knew this was a possibility, there was a sizable chance that the others wouldn't be able to sneak out. With a sigh Grian stood, helping Tommy up, they couldn't wait any longer, it was now or never. The two got a running start, and shot into the air, Tommy stumbling a bit as he did so, he still wasn't quite used to flying.

Grian was the oldest one in the flock, and had lived at the school for his entire life. Tubbo and Bdubs arrived at the school when they were 4, and Tommy was the last to arrive, he was 7 when he had arrived, and the only one who had any memory of the outside world, even if it was fuzzy and lacked many details, and Tommy had all but forgotten them for the most part.

As Tommy flew, he thought about the rest of the flock, he thought of Tubbo, the hummingbird, and how he always tried to make the best of a situation, even though he knew it wouldn't be alright, there were countless times Tommy had heard Tubbo crying when he thought he was the only one awake. Tubbo was the one Tommy was closest to. Tommy also thought of Bdubs, the dove, he always tried to make everyone laugh, but also the first to fall asleep, there were countless times when the rest of the flock couldn't sleep and Bdubs was out like a light. Tommy then turned his thoughts to Grian, the only other one to escape the school, Tommy really looked up to Grian, he was the mastermind of the group, he was the one who came up with the plan to escape. The flock was the closest thing to a family that Tommy knew, and he would die for every single one of his brothers, a thousand times over.

"WATCH OUT!"

Grian's voice pulled Tommy from his thoughts, he tried to duck below the tree branch that was directly in-front of him, but failed, his wings hitting the branch, causing him to fall to the ground, soon hitting the ground with a thud, Grian landed just next to Tommy, holding out a hand to help Tommy up. "Are you alright?"

Tommy grabbed Grian's hand, pulling him up, "yeah," Tommy replied, fluffing out his wings, hoping that that would somehow get the twigs and leafs out of his wings, but of course that wouldn't work, Tommy grumbled something to himself, he wasn't looking forward to preening his wings, he knew Grian would want to help, but even though Tommy trusted Grian a lot, Tommy hated when someone touched his wings.

"We should continue on foot, the sun's up and we don't want the white-coats to find us." Grian said quietly, Tommy nodded, trusting the raven's input.

It was mid-morning by the time the two had found a good place to stay for awhile and wait for the others, it was an abandoned house, or building of some kind, neither Tommy nor Grian knew how to read, so the sign above the door provided no information about what the building was used for in the past. Grian stepped onto the wood just by the door, it creaked under his weight, it felt like it could break at any moment, Grian pushed open the door, it was almost covered in moss. Grian walked inside the building, coughing as he did so due to the dust that had built up after years of the building not being used.

Tommy had followed Grian in, "man, this place has seen better days," he said, walking over to a broken shelf.

Grian nodded, "at least no one will find us for awhile."
