Chapter Twenty

Reader

I had decided to head back to the classroom when it was time for class, hoping that I would be able to meet some new classmates, or at least talk to Kirumi again. She's really kind, but I do worry about taking advantage of her willingness to help as a source to vent my problems to.

To my surprise, Shuichi and Kokichi weren't at class. I had mentioned that I'd be heading there if they wanted to come as well, but I suppose that doesn't mean they have to come. Perhaps I simply thought they would because of their confessions...

This time I was able to meet a new student in the classroom; he seemed quite bored with how the teacher wasn't doing anything, but instantly perked up when he noticed me enter the classroom.

"Hey, I'm glad I'm not the only one who showed up. I've been trying to find the other classmates around the campus, but didn't have any luck. I'm glad coming here paid off after all!"

I glanced over the teacher, who was taking a nap. Seriously, what's the point of a teacher even being here if they're just catching z's...

"I haven't found it difficult to find other classmates; perhaps you're just bad at it."

I chuckled softly, watching the guy sigh as he stood up. He approached me with a smile on his face. He seemed friendly enough...

"Then perhaps I'll have to have you introduce the others to me. Name's Kaito Momota, luminary of the stars!"

Luminary of the stars...?

"Are you an astrologist or something space-related?" I questioned, curious to know his talent.

Kaito let out a chuckle, ruffling my hair as he answered.

"Nah, I'm not into that superstitious crap. I'm the ultimate astronaut, and the first high schooler to pass the entrance exam!"

While Kaito was clearly boasting, I couldn't help but be impressed by his statement.

"Really? That's incredible! Your talent makes mine seem pointless..."

Kaito frowned when he heard this, clearly frustrated with my statement.

"Come on, you shouldn't say things like that. Tell me, what is your talent?"

"I'm (Name), the ultimate prankster...."

Kaito was silent for a moment, only increasing my insecurities, until he burst out laughing, giving me a slap on the back.

"That's an incredible talent! Being able to pull jokes on others, bringing smiles to those who need it... You should be proud of that talent! If you really need help though I suppose I could make you my sidekick!"

Sidekick...? What is he talking about?

"But you're an astronaut; my talent won't help at all..."

Kaito smiles, shaking his head at this.

"Nonsense! I can already tell-"

Shuichi

I had tried to not come to the classroom since I wanted to give (Name) time to consider who she wanted to choose. Well, it's not like she has much to consider, since the two of us are meant to be. Still, it would be rude to rush her.

Unfortunately, my thoughts were not so kind to me. I knew Rantaro wasn't in the picture anymore, but I couldn't help but worry for (Name). What if someone else tried to take her heart, or steal her away?

Now I'm glad I came, seeing as this overly-friendly bastard is trying to win over (Name). I had to make it seem like I wasn't listening in on their conversation, and approach naturally.
