White .
The room was immersed in the most pristine white possible.
The cops had talked to her, the doctor had checked her. And even though she knew she was not Akin, she felt as if they were raping her again. Again strange hands touching her even though she didn't want it . Again remembering everything.
Nare cried with excitement when the doctor confirmed that Akin had not touched her. So much fighting and screaming perhaps had had an effect, she did not know. Her wounds healed, and she began to notice how the bruises began to appear. On her head there was a fresh wound, a cut,but the nurse was gentle. She touched her with care ,but it still burned.
She didn't even know how she got there, who had brought her?
- How?- She asked the nurse
"Your boyfriend, the tall boy, he brought you here. He was so scared, girl. He almost died when you came here, his face was pale."Gediz. Nare guessed that he had gone in to look for his phone he had forgotten at her house. She prayed he hadn't run into Akin.
She could only suppose the immense sense of guilt that had overwhelmed him
<< He will blame himself for not having stayed >>But it wasn't his fault. Not his or anyone else's. She had convinced herself that there were no culprits. Only Akin.
She sat on the bed, a nurse came in, and checked her bed, her body temperature, among other things.
When she finished, Nare asked for him.
-Where is he now?
The nurse smiled, "He's still here, he's out in the hall. He hasn't moved from there in hours."
There was no one more loyal than Gediz, she knew he would be there. "Do you know if I can go now? I miss my daughter," she asked. But by the time the nurse was about to answer ,the door opened.
Gediz entered the room and Nare breathed again.
The nurse left them alone and Gediz smiled at her in gratitude, Nare too. Nare looked at Gediz's brown eyes, so red ,they showed that he had cried. He sat down next to her with slow movements. He set his chair in front of the bed, and Nare remembered the afternoons and mornings she'd done the same for him when he was in the hospital. He took her hand carefully, laced his fingers with hers and they looked at each other for a few seconds. She didn't need to talk, she never needed to. She and Gediz understood each other just by looking at each other. She saw how he tried to be strong, how he didn't want to cry. Nare could look at him and that was enough. And Gediz, he understood her in the same way.
"Just say it and I'll get you out of here," he said with a sweet look.
She smiled through tears too, because it was exactly what she wanted to do. "I want to go home, I want to see Melek ... please, I want to."
He half-smiled.
"Okay. We'll get out of here."Nare spoke with the doctors and the tests on her ended. She even spoke with the police that day, they let her go home at dawn.
Gediz drove in silence, his hand that was off the wheel was holding on to hers. Nare felt safe with that simple gesture. He began to speak.
-We can't go to your house. The police will be there, I will take you to my house, okay? - He asked without looking away from the road. Nare nodded. When they reached the Işıklı mansion, Nare stopped him before entering. She took his hand before he removed his seat belt.
-Gediz, what happened there? - Nare asked, -Because the best, and the worst of all this, is that I don't remember what happened, and I'm really afraid that I won't be able to help in ...
"No, no, Nare." Gediz interrupted her. "Now is not the time to think about that, okay?"
-Gediz-Nare insisted-I want to know.He stayed silent for a moment and took a deep breath before speaking.
-I realized I didn't have my phone. I came back and your door was open.I was scared to death, but I went inside, and I saw the furniture scrambled in the room, I followed that path of broken things and I got to your room.
Your window was in pieces, and you ... you were on the floor, unconscious and with your clothes torn-Nare saw the fear in his eyes, but he looked away- Akin probably left when I entered because I heard the glass break when I came in.- He paused a little between each sentence, and didn't make eye contact with her.-Then I looked at you, for a few seconds. And I thought that would probably be the worst day of my life if you died, Nare. But you began to breathe. I carried you to the car and ran here. -Nare took his hand and kissed it.
