I pull up to Leo's house to find him already sitting outside on the bench, waiting for me. A few minutes ago, he called me to ask if I could help him find this one man to help Bree with her "sickness." I immediately agreed because I wanted to see him again after Bree's meltdown at Tech Town last week. Him and I really didn't have a chance to talk after Bree's meltdown because all of them left right after that, and we've been very busy at school lately so I couldn't speak to him until now.
"I should really get my license," Leo mutters once he gets into my car. However, he does shoot me a smile with that comment. "I hate having everyone drive me around everywhere."
"It really is something great," I tell him, nodding.
"Adam has his license, but he's the worst driver I ever met," he continues.
"Um, I know. He's the one who hit my car."
Leo's eyes go wide as he looks at me. He looks so cute like that, and I almost let that spill out of my mouth. Almost. Instead, I clench my jaw as he says, "I totally forgot about that! I said I'd get Big D to fix it or something, didn't I?"
"Yeah."
"We'll do that soon, alright? I don't want your car to be dented forever because of Adam. I promise I'll get it fixed soon, even if that means I have to pay for it myself."
"Thanks, Leo. My parents haven't found out yet, so it would be great if you get it fixed soon." I back out of his driveway and begin driving somewhere. He nods when I look at him. His phone is already in his hands, probably to ask Mr. Davenport about fixing my car. "Where are we going?"
Leo laughs slightly. "I don't really know. I have no clue where Douglas is."
"And who is Douglas?"
"Big D's brother. I need to find him."
"Okay. Tell me when to stop, alright?"
"Alright, Maggie."
After about twenty minutes of me driving, Leo shouts at me to stop, so I park the car on the side of the road and glance around at where we're at. Leo keeps trying to show me pictures of this Douglas guy while I'm driving, like I'm going to remember it. I remember lines, not faces. Besides, it's not safe for me to focus on his phone while I'm driving the two of us around in a moving metal deathtrap machine. It would be terrible if we got into a car accident because he's trying to show me what a guy looks like. That's why I pulled over in a park near my house so I could focus more on the pictures instead of the road.
"Okay, show me what he looks like," I tell him again. "I'm going to pay attention this time around."
"The man we're looking for is named Douglas Davenport," Leo spouts off the pieces of information to me again. I have heard it for the past fifteen minutes since I picked him up from his house. He shows me his phone, where a guy with spiky hair glares back at me. "He is Big D's younger brother and is basically an evil mastermind, but a good type of evil mastermind. He's also a doctor who can help Bree get better."
"Alright." I stare at the picture for another second longer before glancing over at him. I know why Bree is "sick." Leo just doesn't know that I know, and I won't let him know that I know. "Where do you want to start looking for this evil but good guy?"
He rolls his eyes at me, sticking his tongue out, too. "We could look around here," he says with a shrug. "I really don't know where he would be."
"And you expect to find a doctor in the park?" I ask, frowning at him. However, behind that frown is laughter because his answers are just absolutely ridiculous. I love how he's trying to be creative. "Shouldn't he be in a hospital or something like that?"
